There is a war going on for your mind.

I'm on Cenarion Circle, and I tend to play off-peak hours.  I've been noticing a steady decline in population when I tend to play.  I was wondering if anyone noticed this too.  Also, does anyone know of a non-Aussie server that has a healthy off-peak population?

Cover girl cutouts throw pop-ups ads infecting victims with silicone shrapnel. Postproduction debutants pursue you in Nascar chariots. They construct ransom letters from biblical passages and bleed mascara into the holy waters of minds. They flash logos and blast ghettos; their embroidered neckties say stop snitching. They shout at you, 'pay no attention to the man behind the barred curtain nor the craters beneath the draped flag, those hoods are there for your protection.’

Strange situation as on the EU servers i play i have seen a marked rise in population in both peak and off peak. That being said, 'off peak' playing is always much quieter anyway and you may be seeing people migrating to playing at peak times to get a better bite of the apple in terms of raiding groups and group questing.

It must be Thursday, i never could get the hang of Thursdays.

Yeah...I suppose that's sort of what is happening.  But the question remains though, does anyone know of a NA server with a healthy off-peak population?

I'm starting to get lonely on my server.

Played and enjoyed:
EQ2,DAOC,GW,WOW

maybe try the newer servers, Cairne or Ghostlands

Cairne is almost always on "High" for server population

I used to have a life before this came along.

The problem is that WoW is finally losing subscribers, rather than gaining them. It had to happen, especially with all the new games with comparable content and graphics (i.e. EQ2, Vanguard, LoTR, AoC, and Warhammer to name a few).

I think this is a good thing because it prevents them from resting on their laurels and requires them to actually work on serious content. They did this with Burning Crusade in anticipation of Lord of the Rings, and now they're doing it with WoTLK because of the launch of Warhammer Online. (I'm sure they wish they had WoTLK ready before that game launched.)

All in all, when populations drop in a game  you see a few things occur... 1) servers begin to merge,  2) Populations dwindle at a slow but visible rate 3) Companies start promoting out the ying yang ("Come back for 30 days free!")  4) The focus will be moved away from raids and more towards solo endeavors. and finally 5) Companies prepare for their next great game... can you say Starcraft Online?

Although you might think this is some bs prophesy, it's actually been witnessed by many people in many different games. This isn't a bad thing... remember, from UO came EQ, from EQ came Warcraft, from Warcraft comes ...

Although we really haven't seen the game that takes it's place, believe me it's out there and now is the time for most companies to come in and start taking some of the pie away from WoW. World of Warcraft has a few more years before it reaches a plateau and most likely will still be around for about a decade before it's finally put to rest, so you hardcore WoW nuts need not worry.

Whether you agree or not, this is the evolution of gaming. Hopefully the new kid on the block will knock our socks off.

Zen out.

If you're reading this, you probably need to get some sun.

Thanks, I'll give them a both a play and see if there's people around when I play.
