Now its your turn to answer and discuss.

Wouldn't it be better you use your money in more brain and less in useless shit like stupid franchise. I'll take the film industry parralell, what would be better for you to buy the batman franchise and make a serie of the most stupid film known on Earth, or to buy yourself a small brain and make a real film, i don't know, like Blade Runner.

Also if you prefer to make shit, use Barbie online, if it is as shitty as their films you'll be on top of the no brainers.

Well I was going to say Terminator but someone beat me to that...if done right it'd be an excellent world to dive into - prewar or postwar.

And I wouldn't exactly call this a media franchise since it's another game, but to see an mmo based on the game Age of Empires would be cool.  A dynamic ever changing world where there's a point to going through the motions, with actual governments and territories and diplomacy.

Planet of the apes

and speaking of anime...anyone remember Starblazers??

Save me from what I believe

We at www.plubble.com are sorta making a Cthulhu mmo/mud, using a variety of interesting technologies. Or more accurately, our game will have a Cthulu game plugin, along with a DnD plugin (at least the ones our team are doing). You could theoretically make any game on our plexus platform, but the functionality isn't quite there yet.

Total war online, never going to happen but I can dream ;p Tactics orge/Final Fantasy tactics online would be cool as well, and perhaps a Stronghold game if it was as good as the original and not the mess that they have been making lately. Basically I really want to play a good MMORTS.

One last media franchise, something with the gameplay design of the Pokemon games, I.E the capture, raise, and maintain a team of monsters. I think that that type of gameplay would fit perfectly with MMORPGs, although I would only play it if it was marketed for adults, with complicated gameplay, and a decent storyline. I probably would not play an actual Pokemon mmo because it would have a community that is reminiscent of a nursery.

Pokemon, no, coz that would ruin the whole "pocket" thing. it should always be handheld.

Just in general (not necessarily media franchises) I'd say KOTOR, but that is being done already (or so I think).  Someone mentioned Blade Runner which I think had a cool world that could be expanded upon.  The original movie leaves a lot to be discovered.  I'm sure it has been said but Halo could make a cool MMO if it weren't for the type of people it would attract.  The Fall Out series also has a cool setting for a MMO or maybe something like Half-Life 2.  A second go at SWG would be appreciated.
