No one in this world can you trust. Not men, women, or beasts.[Points to sword] This you can trust. |

A pure healer.. would match closely to a Rune Priest. They have alot of great buffs and nice HOTS. A archmage is a great healer and usually more effective once he has attacked a few times. (his damaging spells increase his healing potential and vise versa) All a playstyle choice.

MMORPG Character Monuments ...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest... |
RvR healers are needed by everyone, not just Empire and not just Order. Fact is, the battle is decided by healers. For Empire thats the Warrior Priest. However WP are more a healing hybrid than a full scale healer. I enjoy my RP. Many people are surprised as to how much fun RvR healing can be ....your always the focus of attention ...both by your team and the opponants. NOt dull at all. Best tactics. Run behind your goup. Keep your back to a wall. Set it so that health bars only pop up when 'hurt' ..that way you can tell who needs heals and who doesnt with a quick glance at the screen. |

I'm the same boat you are in. My "main" so to speak is a 28 BW but I've rolled a healer just to contribute to the cause. I managed to get my AM to 16 relatively fast. So far it seems to me that WP, RP and AM are fairly even at healing although I admit I'm still noob to playing a healer. Of the three I think RP and AM edge out WP because they get down and dirty on the front lines and mix it up a bit but I've seen them put up some really solid healing numbers. AM is fun because if you cast damage spells here and there it boosts the cast speed/effectiveness of your heals and rezs. I think they look a little girly in their robes but as far as their play mechanics I enjoy the class. I just got bubble and it's REALLY handy with a mere 20 sec cd. At level 16 I have 2 hots and one direct heal as well as a morale ability heal. With decent gear I'm throwing out 1k+ heals at my level. (that's not a brag, I'm sure people do more, it was just a info thing) RP looks cool and has some nice buffs and also puts up very solid heal numbers. I don't know enough about the class to fully comment though. One of the biggest factors on how effective you can heal is your survivability naturally. As an 16 AM I have a couple of def debuffs to try to help save my butt, I can bubble myself and throw a hot on myself while I run. A decent WE drops me more often than not but then again they do that to most squishies because that's what they're built for. On a side note, I read in the patch info they've decreased the amount of renown gained by healers. I'm sure it was a correct fix but they said healers were getting way too much renown for combat. I hope they didn't "fix" it too hard. Personally I think they should give people incentives to play healers. Kind of like if you owned a bar, you have "ladies night" drink /cover charge specials. (ie: more women = men will follow and therefore make you more money) Even with an incentive to play a healer I don't think the game would be overrun by them it's just a bonus to help pvp along imo. |

RP are a helluva lot of fun, particularly once you get 25ish, get your AoE knockback and spec Vayala for Rune of Burning. That way you have both decent single target DPS for PvE, as well as extremely strong healing. Just be prepared to suffer through your early 20s in tier 3, that's the only part of playing them so far where I felt a tab weak. But every class probably gets better at different times. I'm level 31/RR 31 on mine and am very glad I chose this character. Down the road you may not want to stick with Vayala, I've yet to determine my final spec......but it does make for a nice push from 25-40 being able to solo, group or RvR decently. To me specs don't matter so much until one gets to max level, nor does gear......I just do what works best and is easiest for me until that point. |

Originally posted by ghostinfinit I'm about to log on my main (a healer) right now, but from reading the patch notes, this is a welcomed change for me, despite the fact that I know I will get lesser renown right off the bat. Healers were getting a disproportionally high rate of renown even for doing less work than another class. While healers are important, they shouldn't be given special treatment. Hopefully when I actually get some experience with these changes in the next hour or so I wont have to eat my words. On paper though, this is a good change. Now, on topic: play a class you LIKE playing. If you try playing to fill in holes on your server you're just going to regret it later on. Now, by all means, try healers out and see if you like their playstyle, but don't play it because you feel you need to fill in a gap. Either way, HAVE FUN! :) Like everyone else said, Rune Priests are the "best" healers, as dubbed by forum posters, but the Arch Mage and Warrior Priests can all be amazing healers if played correctly, even more so than the Rune Priest in some situations. |
