playing: EQ ,Lineage 2

i got the eu battle chest from a friend, just the dvds i will be using my old account. i was wondering what patches will i need to download, how far up to date is the battle chest.

The Battle chest version is probably something between 2.0 and 2.4.3. Patching from version 2.x to 2.4.3 is max 1GB download, less than 1GB if the battle chest has newer version than 2.0. Patching from 2.4.3 to latest version, 3.0.2,  is nearly 2GB download. So you'll likely have to download more than 2GB but less than 3GB of patches.

If your friend has WoW installed and patched, and you have some kind of movable harddisk, big enough memory stick, etc. You could just copy your friends whole WoW installation to it, and then from it to your harddrive, and avoid having to install from DVDs and patching completely.

depending on your connection speed, it will be awhile.  Probably at least a GB before yesterdays patch, then another GB from yesterday.

I always find the blizzard torrent downloader very very slow get about 30kbps even with ports open etc... where I get a 700kbps on normal downloads.

I recommend downloading the paatches here http://www.wowwiki.com/Patch_mirrors

first install the game from the DVD's and get it to the log in screen it will tell you what version it is in the bottom left of the screen. make a note of that and download the relevent patches. Install them 1 by 1, it will tell you if its the wrong patch when you run it.. cant go wrong IMHO.
