Hi, i'm a pve player....PvP is ok but I'm not competitive with my fellow man so I don't see the gratification in it (although I'm perfectly capable of appreciating the fact that others do). For me PvP only adds to the PvE experience, not the other way around.....one of the reasons I'll never fully get into Eve or AoC or WAR. In your opinion what is the best PvE game out there right now? You can say Everquest or DAOC but only if you think they are the best in their current shape :) Please no pre-Trammel UO references or references to games containing with Light Sabres that were modified. What do you think is the worst of the commercially available mmos right now? You're allowed to say games that you think are bad based on their current condition ....I won't dig up any bones if you don't. After few posts i'll give up my fav and least favs :)
this is just for fun :) |

I would have to say for me the best PvE game out at the moment is EQ2. This game offers lots of play styles. You can just explore if you want. The world of Norrath is huge and interesting with great lore. There is a good economy and crafting is fun. I have never been much into crafting but I enjoy the mini-game feel to EQ2's crafting. Player housing is one of the things I like best in EQ2. I spend hours decorating and creating themes to my houses in EQ2. If WoW offered the same deep housing as EQ2 I would still most likely be playing it. Ton's and ton's of quests. PvE play is about questing and EQ2 is the top of the heap when it comes to quests. There are also lots of mounts and none combat pets to collect. With both equiped armor and appearance armor it is fun to create unique looks for you characters. The content for PvE play is well balanced for solo play to large raid events. There are many things for many types and sizes of groups to do together. While WoW offers live world and seasonal events, EQ2 does them the best in the buisness. They are constently having live world events and the holidays are a great time. You always get some cool stuff to wear or display in your house. I am looking forward to Halloween and Frostfell in EQ2. I also think WoW has good PvE play but EQ2 simply offers more to do. Other notable PvE games would include LoTRO and Saga of Ryzom. However, EQ2 is the king of the PvE hill at the moment.

Final Fantasy XI is best PvE game out there at the moment, IMHO. It's hard for me to name a least favorite; I've been at least mildly pleased with just about all the MMORPGs I've played (helps that I don't play stuff at release; makes it easier to avoid the dogs). Maybe Dark Age of Camelot, but I'll freely admit I didn't give it much of a chance, sheerly through lack of time. |

Despite what the beta tests had to say about the game a year or so ago i'm a Vanguard fan now....for two reasons.... I like the community and i think this game has rekindled the Everquest spirit. Vanguard is very immersive and once you get a good guild the sky is the limit for activities. (if you're over 18 and wanta guild on seradon pm me for details) Vanguard has had its issues but its nice to see the new folks rolling in.....lots and lots of them. I dont need to go into great detail but I pick vanguard as the best PvE game because it has succeeded in being Eq1's successor much more so than eq2 imho (no offense to the eq 2 crowd, its a great game too) |

IMO Vanguard and WoW are the stand out PvE offerings. I think its just a matter of taste which you prefer between the two of them though. |

The enemy is so dumb! They believe that WE are the enemy! - A famous orc commander. |
If you are either a SOLOER or a GROUPER, I would say City of Heroes/Villains, without any hesitation (sidekick, XP curve, intuitive, speed, leveling, customisation of powers, customisation of look, uberness...).
If you are a tradeskiller, I would guess, maybe Horizons, maybe EQ2, maybe Saga of Ryzom...
If you are a raider, pick any, they are all offering you much, raid-wise. |

I'd say LOTR is becoming a good contender in the pve mmo with a good updates and a new expansion coming out in a month . there some form of pvp in monster play but i usually played that when i wanted a change it's not the best system imo.

Currently Vanguard would top that list, in my view. Mainly based on:
