why do humans build, because it isn''t there |
I enjoyed WurmOnline. basically crafting and other skills are more important to most people than combat. The game is basically based around building and living in a town with 10-80 some people, and if you're on the wild server you get to live with even more via faction based PvP (though more than 1 town obviously just very interconnected). There's basically a bit over 150 something skills, only with only about 10 of them being combat based. anything from masonry, pottery, to smithing(and it's sub skills). The engine also lets you affect the world in ways that no other game lets you. Terraforming, building houses(anywhere, even without a town), minning real tunnels, and even permently cutting down/planting trees(IE naturally grown forests, not respawn based forests). The game is extremely community based. when I left there were pretty much only 5 or so people that lived by themselves, just because it's hard to do so. this pretty much filters out anyone that would be considered antisocial eventually. Basically you will live in a town or you will live uncomfortably. this makes the game very group based but not in the sense that you're all logged in at the same time doing the same thing, stuff just needs to get done. It also takes a bloody long time to get to skill higher levels, but since the main goal isn't to get to the high levels it's not grindy unless you make leveling your goal. players are essentially useful from day one even low level crafting is extremely useful(on the wild server at least, homeserver is a bit more jaded not having that whole PvP thing). The game is essentially free unless you want to raise your skills above level 20, which you do if you want to enjoy the full game. plenty of time to see if you want to play it for a year or two. Oh and I left mainly because I was just too familiar with the game(a bit under 2 years of play out of it), I'm kinda the explorer type so something like that ruins my day. did I mention that each server is 256 Square KM with two out right now and eventually three, getting ontop of a large mountain lets you see the entire server in enough detail that you can make a map out of it if you choose to. the max view distance works nicely even on low end systems and is pretty amazing since the game still has a very indy taste to it. |

Considering the rest of what I've read on the forums, that makes it seem kinda crappy. I'm still going to play it at some point in the next few months, though. Level 20? Is there a time limit on the free play? What's the monthly fee? Just wanted to ask a player instead of searching through random pages for a game I'm not going to play right now. |

Well runescape is really unique at what it's good at so yea, wurm online would be a nice choice although some people just can't get into the game, you oculd also try out EVE and ryzom since there like runescape kinda?freedom to do anything is good enough i guess |

I like life. It''s something to do. |
Wurm is the type of game that you either love or hate. You should try, wonderland online, water matgin, atlantica, depending on if the reason you want that is yourpc spec, or do you want a browser game? |

I'm stuck on a less than fantastic laptop, and no, I don't really want a browser game. I'm trying Silkroad Online for now. EVE was fun, tried that a little bit. |
