Originally posted by Tyvolus1 The reason for the mergers has more to do with Mythic going overboard and making too many servers right after launch when some servers will FULL/FULL with cues. the fact they are merging those servers is more fixing a problem then dealing with any mass exodus. Fact is the extra servers they added were low/low from launch and never filled up. For example, as of right now I am counting 22 low/low servers during primetime and 30 Medium/Medium with a few low/medium servers. So thats 30 Medium/Medium after the server cap increase not bad at all considering the free trial is up and the server cap increase. Now you take the 22 low/low servers merge them into the 30 medium and you will get 30+ Medium or better capacity servers. In other words it is time to relax with the doom and gloom predictions, the game is doing quite well. 30+ medium or greater servers is not bad at all. No way you can spin that. After the merger many will be high/high. My server is medium/medium and I just spent an hour in tier 3 RvR. Plenty of action on it and it has been since day 1. I'm not trying to be a doomsayer, but pretending things are fine and any drop in activity is due to to many servers is false. What happened to all the heavy and full servers that were around just a month ago?
It might not be a mass exodus, but there is a lot to suggest that there is a significant dropoff. I know my server went from occassionaly heavy to always light. Several others I was looking at moving to went from heavy to medium.
I think the truth lies somewhere in the middle. There is a significant dropoff in population and there are far to many servers. Combining them in manner will be a big fix to both problems. |

No, Imperial commander, Nair does not come in wookie size. We do have an ewok 6 pack though |

Well, the big boss man did state very clearly they did increase the server capacity on one of the boards. |

True, but the populations show on the sever selections screen had been decreasing before and after that statement. It wasn't something that just happened over night.
If they hussle in the transfer tools and the December patch delivers what is promised I suspect things will pick up instead of decrease. The game just doesn't seem to hitting the mark just yet. |

I guess you would rather they do the Funcom thing and just keep making flase promises and not do anything they say they will do. Even the almighty WOW has low pop servers
Yes, but you really can't compare a low pop server in a PvE game to a low pop in a PvP game. That said, I think the population of the game asa whole is ok....it is just stretched too thin. Had there been more players sticking with it and having to wait in queues for 20 minutes when they had time to play the complaints would have been the opposite. It was perhaps a risk to create so many servers, but sometimes it is difficult to balance the correct number of servers with players. There really shouldn't be any shame in a merge as it is simply a rebalancing of populations to make the game more enjoyable. |

Activity on my server seems to have increased in tiers 1-3 (I don't have any tier 4 characters yet). |

I have to say I'm a little worried. I'm on a great server with great open RvR pretty much all night, but our 40s are already getting bored and though I'd love to join them leveling has slowed to a crawl. Sadly tier 3 has been everything Mythic promised it wouldn't be, I spend 3 hours a night running the same scenario over and over again while killing 450 of the same mob so I can get a PQ reward. The PvE quests are ok, but they only last an hour or so where the grinding takes many times that much. Open RvR is fun, but if I ran open RvR every night it would probably take me 2-3 weeks for each level, I'll be 40 by valentine's day... Saturday night a friend of mine stopped by from a different server so I ran tier 1 scenarios with him. It was so much fun, win or lose we had a great time and it was nice leveling, running PQs once or twice and being done with them. As far as I'm concerned, except for the rotten RvR gear, ranks 1-21 are near perfect and I look forward to playing alts in that range again. Tier 3 however, huge step down fun-wise, hopefully tier 4 will better, but it will be weeks before I'm really into tier 4 and I'm not sure I'll be able to resist playing my alts since they are so much more fun... :( At the same time, it's not surprising to see warhammers number go down. I think there are still a number of people that have subscritpions to WoW and Warhammer and WoW has a new event running that sounds like a lot of fun. I renewed for 6 months, I want to get at least one char to 40 and see how the end-game plays out, and I want to give Mythic a chance at their vision, but as of right now there's no way I would even think of taking another char from 22+ unless something pretty drastic changes.

"Dreams flow across the heartland, feeding on the fires" - N. Peart |
Meh.. All the XFire What's, Why's and Wherefor's are pointless and the attempts to dress them up is disingenuous. It boils down to this: People will hold up XFire's numbers as "legit" when they support their opinion of the game. People will reject XFire numbers as "bogus" when they don't support their opinion of the game. Some people have even taken both sides, switching from one to the other based solely on whether the XFire numbers supported their views or not. The XFire numbers have ceased to have meaning beyond people's convenient use of them to argue for or against the game. Or... Maybe I'm just cynical :-p.
