Actually it has both . Its a skill based game much like UO , but it also has  prestige class's you can chose to follow if you wish , class's you see in most mmo's like assasinn or gladiator or druid , paladin etc . These class's generaly get a few special spell's/ skills , but there is also limitations and  restrictions/trade off's etc , like a druid cant use metal armor and a paladin has to give half his earnings to the church . You are not locked into these class's if you dont like it ,  tho there is a small penalty for leaving a class i belive. Still its very much a fully skill based game  the class's dont mean much other than a small perk with a small penalty and dont change the skill based design, tho i dont think they will be in for launch. .

There's no prestige classes at launch, they might add them later.

No we don't have a list of skills yet. What info we have though is that there are 500+ skills and 700+ spells last I read. Skill cap for any skill is 100. There is a soft cap on skill point total after so many skill points it becomes harder to raise other skills. From my understanding though there is no hard cap on skill point totals, so in theory given you have infinite time you can have all skills cap'd.

At 100 skill points you get a sort of High Quality ability or spell associated with the specific skill in question. When you use it your skill points in that skill drop back down to 99.

If you go long periods of time without using a skill though it will begin to decay.

There's a lot more about the skills out there info wise you just gotta search.

No, nor will Aventurine ever release such a list. Only the basic skills will be handed to you. Many will require you to either learn from someone who already has the skill, or search the world for an NPC that gives you a quest to gain the skill. Many of these NPCs will be squirreled away in the wilderness somewhere.

I am a skeptical supporter of DF. I am not a fanboi nor a troll. I seek the truth in every discussion, and I am truly sorry if I mistakenly state a fallacy.

Aye this is very important.  The devs have commented on this along with their grand idea for how the game will play and the immersion factor.  Now third party sites will eventualyl compile lists like they always do, but they want you to actually explore and enjoy the experience rather than planning out your endgame on day 1.

Cant wait =)

I remember very well in the old times of AC2 people were asking for more complicated quests "puzzle type"  or so. There was a monthly content upgrade normally including quests that players worked out in a couple of days or may be less. The answer from developers was a long scripted quest with some traps in between and a comment in the boards about how fast all the information was published by players and the non sense to create hidden or "puzzle" content  because of it.

It took just a week the quest was worked out and published.

I guess it will be worse if it is about skills in a FFA PvP because if you try to play the game without going to look at the information available to keep up the fun of exploration and findings, you will be in disadvantage in the combat against people who done the read.

Just my thoughts on it. Really there are a lot of things i have doubts about Darkfall. I hope the game comes soon and well done. I'll get the answers :)
