"Funny how they call the award "Game of the Year" what they compare them to is the main reasoning."

In all honesty, I am tired of seeing the same generic ideas. Even Warhammer, as fun as it is, gets boring. When I started gaming, I remember falling in love with Terminal Velocity, Falcon 4.0, Wing Commander and others such as Descent and, in my opinion one of the greatist, Descent Freespace. I spent hours behind a joystick, I recall spending $80 for my current one. Now, it collects dust, so many games come out for flight, so many busts. I remember starting my own personal boycott of any Jane or Microsoft flight game. I just was not impressed. I tired of swords and daggers. I want to fly again. JgE looks like a winner. For YEARS I've complained about how there should be a good looking MMO for flight. Space Cowboy (Ace Online) held my attentions for a while. But, no joystick; sorry, flying by mouse is just not it for me.

I tried Eve and fell asleep. That is a slow game. I want live, fast and furious Dog Fights. Descent Freespace, to me, had the best balance. I still remember starting a mission and my wingman screaming "Dive, Dive, Dive!" and I had the volume high. Now that will tweak a nerve.

JgE, holds much promise. I just hope that when creating the game they do not skip out on the other parts that make a game great. Spaceflight and dogfights, that is a given. But don't skimp on the cities, Space Cowboy did that. Loved to fly, hated to land and see that silly toon running around the silly base. Almost a requirement these days, crafting of sorts.

Keep pvp on pvp servers, for non-pvp servers up the ante with more mobs and make them a little stronger. Matter of fact, have them randomly attack the city, and have it so the people in the city can look up and see them attacking, they then can rush to the hangar and launch to take up defense.

Yes, I am very excited about this game. I play Warhammer just about daily, but I check the website for JgE just about everyday. Guess I am still hoping for an early release. Nonetheless, I know I speak for the majority when I say, "NetDevil, hurry up with JgE, but, lets make sure it's ready. I'll be right here waiting"

So you want them to hurry up, but take their time?

I was going to make fun of that, but I seem to feel the same.

Less haste, more speed, NetDevil!

It's best NetDevil takes their time. AoC was hyped beyond relief and now look at it. It was a pump and dump. The community has dropped off considerably I stopped playing because of the content and the ease of going through the levels. Yes you cannot please everyone but you still need balance.

We shouldn't be able to level to max level in any game in 30-60days of play in my opinion. I hope JGE does it right and I will gladly part with a monthly fee to have months and years of enjoyment.

Yes, yes and yes! AoC, I could not do. The game felt like a generic console game. Leveling is like a cookie for doing well. While I love cookies, after a while I want a carrot. NetDevil would be wise to make this one an awesome game. I know many of my tech friends have been annoyed with MMOs simply because most of the widespread popular ones are sword and shield. Ok, enough with the medieval times.
I need this game to do well to revamp my faith in the MMOs that has waned. I have gone from EQ1 to WoW to EQ2 to most of the released game list to WoW to Warhammer. With each MMO, I feel that the industry has lost sight of what is wanted by non PVP gamers and those that have been playing such sword and shield games for ages.

Besides the way I see it, Jumpgate Evolution, I hope, will be more than just a game. I hope that the industry will see and follow suit and start to bring high end MMOs more to the future and present time.

Netdevil, you have my faith in your hand, no pressure *wink*

I here you on that Winntech...

I have been playing MMO's for the past 9 yrs and i am just burnt out on playing them I think I have a very lower tolerance level for crappy games and no support. AoC really put me over the edge. I had great promise for the game and it didn't deliver all the way around.

JGE has the luxury of being in a niche market and really only has EVE to tend to. Which are two different games really. Alot of the same concepts but different so I think they will coexist nicely and maybe the competition will be good for both sides in the end.

If NetDevil can bring back the enjoyment I had when playing WC, Privateer, Freelancer, FreeSpace I will be VERY happy.

People still seem to think this game will be like other MMOs with "mobs" and restricted combat.

Honestly, Jumpgate isn't anything like other MMOs. There are no "cities", but rather space stations where you do not exit from your ship.

Frankly, JGC had it almost right. There needed to be more to do, with more interactable objects in space.

What we don't need are separate servers for PVP and PVE. This isn't a game where someone can just gank you out of nowhere because they are a higher level. JGC's bounty system was excellent at keeping order in regulated space.

So while I understand people who only want to PVE in games like WoW and Everquest, Jumpgate isn't that kind of game by any means whatsoever.

We had such great ways of keeping people safe from other players in JGC without actually limiting the ability to fire upon someone and do damage to them. That's the kind of PVP I want to see again.

In short, if I shoot you, anywhere at any time, you should take damage, but if I do so in regulated space, I should get a bounty on my head and face problems between our respective squads (guilds).

That might be the type of PVP that you want to see Daedalus, but from reading Dev interviews it's by no means certain that is what we are going to get. In fact separate "restricted pvp" and "free for all pvp" servers seem a distinct possibility. Having said that, this issue seems to change from interview to interview but what the Devs have said time and again is that if you want to avoid PVP, you can.

I'm well aware that the state of PVP seems to be in flux, but what I can't figure out, is why the original bounty system employed in JGC needs alteration. I was almost never attacked for no reason in three years of playing, and always had a squad willing to watch my back, as most people did.

Why are people so obscessed with avoiding PVP like this? Jumpgate is not a game where someone 500 levels above you can come waltzing in and just one-shot you half way across the star system.

The essense of Jumpgate has always been about reconstruction and conflict. There are factions for a reason.

So while I don't blame people for wanting to avoid PVP in games like WoW, where someone so many levels higher than you is almost always going to win a fight and gankfests are common, I really look down upon people trying to avoid it in Jumpgate. This is a game more concerned with a person's skill as a pilot than their level.

Thus trying to weasel out of being "forced" into PVP in a game like Jumpgate makes me shake my head in disgust, more than anything else because it means there will have to be multiple servers rather than one large one like the original Jumpgate in order to accommodate those people who, well, are just plain cowards in this case.
