You see, you and me have far more in common than me and him or you and him.  All you have to do is realize that the Bible is no different from many books that have claimed to be the word of God, and that Jesus is no different than many others who have claimed to be the son of God (better than some, sure).  And then we're in the same place.

How many serious books on apologetics have you read?

 

I take a class on apologetics.

Its not really convincing, and the evidence is suggestive and cherry picked.

And yes the bible is very similar to other dogmas, and the view of God as well. The description of him fits the role of a divine ruler with ethics suitable for that time period.(Which we consider primitive) But to say that a God of the universe has these characteristics is barbaric.

People who think a God exists are called Agnostic.

People who know a God exists are called whatever name they have chosen to declare themselves as worshippers of a certain God.

You say, "A God is real if the God reveals Itself to be."  So i'll ask you who's a God supposed to reveal Itself to be if not to it's own worshippers?  Only those that are open to a God will be the ones that the God chooses to reveal Itself to.

I suggest you start a topic called "How many books on apologetics have you read?" where you can show off your epeen. 

As for your religion, I'm not surprised you find it indefensible.

No, that is not true. Jesus and allah claim to be VERY different. The gods of norse and Jesus claim to be VERY different. Indian rituals involving ancestoral worship and Jesus are two VERY different things. There is no 'universal' God. Someone is right, and many are wrong.

If you were to tell that to a muslim in Iraq, they'd probably kill you for believing a heresy. A Christian wouldn't, but I say that to make a point - that type of new age philosophy is very recent, and therefore, to a person who worships a certain Deity will certainly disregard that statement because #1: it doesn't make sense and #2 it isn't true. Jesus is NOT allah and vise versa allah is NOT Jesus.

uh no jesus and mohammed are of  the same god, they say jesus was a prophet too( and respected as such) , just came before so Mohammed was the LAST prophet with the updated version.

they see christians as fellow pilgrims walking the SAME road to heaven, they just are using the pre-patch version.

Christian Jesus and Muslim Jesus are two VERY different Jesus'.
