I am currently deployed to iraq but i am going to restart the game after about a 3 yr break. I know the game has probably changed alot and just have some questions. Since im deployed i will probably have to solo alot so what is a good class to solo with but is also beneficial in group play? Im looking at playing either a SK or a Swash/Ranger. My orignall class was a swash and im curious how a swash stacks up now in the solo/dps department? Im not a caster player myself i tend to stick to the melee classes. Any feed back on the classes i named would greatly be appreciated. Yeah i know i can prob search the web for the info but I have limited time here Hehe so thanks ahead of time for the info. |

If it was that easy, everyone would do it. |
Shadow Knights are awesome solo, I had one at 75. The other two I have no idea about. I don't care for Rogue classes. Necromancer and Conjuror do well solo , but if you just like melee based a Sk will have a problem getting into raids. I would go Mystic or Inquisitor because of the healing and the melee/utility. |

Like the previous poster said, SK solo extremely well. The problem is they are not needed in groups at all. If you do plan to try group or raid a lot, then don't bother with the SK. I like my SK, but if I could do it over now I would play a different class. |

Rangers are a bit rough to solo with early on, Swashy's do pretty well solo as do SK's. Monk/Bruisers also do well solo. Since you don't want a caster those are what I would suggest. |

Thanks for the Info. I know nothing about the monk class guess ill try to look into it. I think i kinda like the versatility of a Swash. Its to bad the SK isnt needed or wanted there skills look pretty awesome. Oh well thanks for the info. |

Having soloed a swashie myself up through the levels i can tell you they are great at the solo play. They can kill above their level quite easy plus the added bonus of sneak makes them very versatile soloers. When you have that time for grouping they also fll the DPS role nicely and can tank at a pinch if no plate tanks are available. I've also levelled a Zerker up to 80 also and can tell you they are great too, tough and can dish it out. They are also welcome tanks in groups.

I currently play a ranger and they are not the best solo'ers by far. Half of the attacks are ranged and that only lasts a shot or two before the enemy is on you. As others have stated Shadow Knights, from what I 've seen on chat, are the preferred solo class. Another one that you may be interested in even though you prefer melee was a Wizard. They can't take alot of damage but they can nuke for a ton of damage to compensate. I solo'ed with mine very easily.
Best of luck in Iraq and in EQ2. |
