Does anyone know how much this is in the UK?

Its free to download and for USA its $15 a month, the norm for all MMOs. Goto http://www.eve-online.com and check out subscriptions.

You can get the game from steam for $10 with a free month ...thats like £7

I'd advise against Steam, not neccesarily because it's bad but it adds an unneeded layer to it all. Just get it from the main EVE site. Trial is free, upgrading to a full account+1 month is about 19 euro, after that is' about 15 euro per month.

I mean the actual box... how much is the discs and stuff?

So you dont have to buy the game? you can just make an account, pay and then download the trial?

Is there an actuall retail box in stores? What am I missing if I dont get the box?

I very much doubt you'll find a retail box nowadays. The last time I saw EvE in a store was about 2 years ago in my local GAME.

The trial is the full version, but you will need to subscribe to play beyond the 14 days.

I see. Is there anything Im missing? because I mean I could just look at tutorials instead of a manual or whatever. So... why hasnt an mmo thats been out for ages been givin a box for the past few years?

So, I have to create a trial account and then upgrade to a full account?

The landscape of PC gaming is changing. Publishers are understanding that they can save big bucks by making their products available for download rather than via physical retail. Don't be suprised if within 10 years there are no PC games in stores - they will all be digital download.

In terms of manuals etc. the internet is the biggest manual you can get. There is more info about this game on the web than could ever be shoe-horned into a paper manual. The age of the Wiki is here, and beats the hell out of the printed page.

As for registering, I vaguely remember that you have to register, download the trial, and then you are given a reminder when your trial is up and you can pay to continue playing. I have played through two trials in my time, but both times I found the game too complex for my liking. EvE is not for the faint hearted - as such, a 14 day trial is perfect for the newcomer to decide whether it is for them.

Because ccp had no publisher. They published it on their own via download.

A box will be available in march (again), because they are cooperating with atari.

And yes, create a trial, enjoy 14d, then upgrade the account. That's all you have to do, everybody has the same client.
