"My days of not taking you seriously are certainly coming to a middle" - Firefly

Is there anything really new to offer or is it just more of the same?  I love WoW but I've had enough quest grinding, instance grinding, and PvP grinding.....

Is there anything really new to offer?

Yes its very much the same no new ideas although having the Deathknight start at 55 was an amazing idea that Blizzard had instead of level 1.

If you played BC there is a dungeon equal to it in WOTLK just level 70+ the mobs just have a different skin.

Take Blood Furnace in BC replace the Orcs and add nagas and hey look I made a new dungeon, hire me Blizzard that took me 10 seconds to do ill make 20 more for ya.

Raids are still there same thing decurse, move around..... run in ....run out.... kill adds..... stay out of the fire etc.

They made 10 mans the same as 25 mans content wise but the gear for 25 mans is better so people will be doing those more.

Arena season 5 starts on 16 December so you dont wanna miss that and ofcourse there are reps you will need to grind its WOW silly.

New PVP zone was added but AV still gives better honor per hour so I will let you guess where everyone will be after the newness wears off in a month and people need honor gear for season 5.

Playing- Lotro

Try it yourself, you're not going to learn much around here. Some people think it's the greatest thing ever. Some are calling it just more of the same. I just started playing it and so far I'm leaning more toward the latter, but who knows I might be suprised yet. I haven't tried a DK yet, but I'm on a PvP server and right now high-level stealth classes have been ganking the poor buggers left and right without mercy. Good times!

Currently Playing: Lotro, WAR
Retired: WoW

You know why you have to buy WotLK over other MMOs? Its simple. Blizzard has continuously given us great content. Here is an example of the escalation of more content with each expansion!

Here's a comparison of what $39.99 gives us with each expansion...

The Burning Crusade gave us-
-2 new races
-4 new zones for these races (starting zones and city area zones)
-1 new profession
-1 new continent
-1 new battleground
-10 new levels
-flying mounts
-arena system
-myriad of raid content i don't care for.

Wrath of the Lich King gives us-
-1 Hero class (they promised more than 1 Hero class since WoW-Beta)
-1 new profession
-1 new continent
-1 new battleground
-2 new Arenas
-10 new levels
-myriad of raid content i don't care for.

You're forgetting Lake Wintergrasp, Multi-person mounts, bigger - better constructed zones, more dynamic NPC interactions (lots more fighting going on between NPC factions to give the impression of a ongoing conflict).

But who am I to disagree?  A lowly WoW fanboy... show us the features of other MMORPG expansions and lets having a pissing contest.

I'm sure I'd win anyway, but it'd be fun to watch you struggle :p

The way I think of expansions (of all MMOs, not just WoW) is that its a new coat of paint on the old house.

It looks better, but the place is still the same.

Honestly guys it's called an "expansion" for a reason, now you sound like you may just want a new game all together which I can respect but you'd be hard pressed to tell me of a mmo that changed dramatically (for the better) with an expansion pack.

Definitions of expansion:

noun: the act of increasing (something) in size or volume or quantity or scope
noun: adding information or detail
noun: a discussion that provides additional information

Personally I would put Turbine up against Blizzard any day of the week for content added to their games.

Currently playing:
LOTRO & WoW (not much WoW though because Mines of Moria rocks!!!!)

Looking Foward too:
Bioware games (Dragon Age & Star Wars The Old Republic)

/QFT

If Blizzard did half the massive updates Turbine did...  well..  Bit for bit, LOTRO players got overall twice the content over the past year than the $40 WoW expansion is giving it's players.   On top of that, their expansion is adding even more!

I'm neither a fanboi or basher of either game.  I'm convinced there hasn't been a near-perfect MMO since the original SWG.   Just from observation and experience, having played both games extensively, that the subscription dollar certainly stretches farther with LOTRO and Turbine that it does with WoW.
