Todays TC update for Chapter 11 includes a memorial for Jeff Freeman.  It's feature in the Village of Aurillia:

In Memory:

  • The Aurilia guildhall has a new memorial to a fallen hero, named "The Freeman."

The Battle of Echo Base:

  • Vehicle mines on Hoth detonate on cloaked or stealthed targets.
  • Only those with a combat level of 70 or higher are eligible to go to Hoth.
  • Indented Phase 2 tasks in the completion window.
  • Changed the token count to a more yellow color.
  • During the Imperial version of Phase 2 in the Battle of Echo Base, the Rebel success message is no longer given when the Imperials fail to capture the command center and the correct voice-over is given when they succeed.
  • Changed the presentation of the objective tracking in Phase 3 for Rebels.

It's kind of odd that the old flightless bird beat SOE to putting a memorial for him in their game.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Jumpgate Evolution, Earthrise, Fallen Earth, anything sandbox.

He was a developer involved with the creation of the NGE.

There have been some many classless statemates made on the internet after his death and all I have to say with regard to those statements is they are shameful.  The guy did his dammed job, probably like any of us would have done.  It is a shame people leave these hateful hurtful words where everyone can see and be sickened.

I feel sorry for Jeff Freeman who was the only Developer who had the guts to even attempt to shed some light on the NGE.  He did do more than many in his position would have done.  Most people people would have hid rather than come here and talk about a contravetial project, like the NGE, which he was a part of.  The man deserves respect and his death is no joke for some shameless fool to laugh about.

Jeff Freeman is like any one of us.  Maybe he was not a Saint, but who the hell are we to throw stones?  As a SWG Veteran I wish to apologize for any crude remarks other veterans have said.  They were classless and I assure you they do not represent the majority of us who are good and decent people.

As to Jeff Freeman's family, I wish you well and hope you will heal from these hard times and remember Jeff warmly in your hearts.

As to Jeff Freeman, to me he will be remembered as the most couragous of the SWG NGE developers and a person whom I respect.

-My sympathy,
