FC just needs to make separate tags for actual GMs (paid staff) and FoA members (volunteers). Also, the FoA member that killed you, most likely *cough* did *cough*, lose his FoA powers and had his free member status revoked. Just because they don't tell you how they handle their business doesn;t mean they just let it slip by. Trust me, it didn't.
The OP isn't having fun in the game, but it isn't as bugged as he tries to make it out to be. The only on going bug is the walk through walls glitch in sieges. This bug, while annoying, is a still a pretty minor bug because players still have to tear down buildings to get the win. |

I see a problem with a CRM sending a PM to the OP insinuating he is either lying or lacking proof. My conclusion reading that is that the "Gaute/Erling era" has not yet ended at FC and we can only speculate about what the next volunteer moderator/GM incident will be. As for bugs in the game: Several exploits and vulnerabilities that have been reported at least 3 months ago are still in the game. For other current bugs a short visit to the "its the users fault" forum shows these: Loading zones (which happens a bit in AoC) Latency - Ehh sorry you said? Must have missed a few packets there... Alt-tab crash solution: Just dont alt-tab, run windowed Sorry for not mentioning the wall bugs - They are not really important as some of the other (to some non-existant) bugs

If they flagged volunteers and paid staff differently than it would become very obvious how very few paid staff are handling CS. You are assuming the abuse of power was handled that well, Famine implied he knew nothing of it. FC had let many a bad apple run amok far too long (Lufkin was a public example). You and I have no clue how un-monitored folks with GM powers could be tampering with the game play, this particular GM was stupid enough to blatantly admit he was abusing his power. As long FC doesn't publically aknowledge these issues and how they are solving them, I think the reputation they have built will lead most to believe they aren't handling it well at all. |

Don't forget the unbelieveably bugtastic endgame raid instances.... |

The bigger problem is FC doesn't want to spend money on customer service personnel, they prefer to use volunteers (who are compensated with free game time). What happened to you, sadly is exactly what you would expect to happen using this system. Right after AoC's launch more than a few of the testers were auctioning their GM accounts, imagine what kind of hands those fell into.
Wow, just ... wow. I had no idea that they were giving away GM accounts to anyone like that, and you say they were auctioning them? Would you happen to have a link to where this was done, or anything that could show everyone that this happened? I knew FunCom had alot of volunteers, but had no idea that they could trade up their GM status accounts so freely. |

They can't be traded freely; however, It wouldn't be hard for someone to sell their FoA account to someone else. Of course, this would be found on in a day or so due to violating rules.
Anyways, Famine wouldn't know anything about the incident. You know why? Its not his job to. Hes kinda the Forum PR guy. His job is to watch forums and get an understanding of everyone feeling/wants who views these forums. He doesn't interact in game with people, nore does he deal with anything in game. So yea. I know for a fact that this is the way it was taken care of. You want proff, just go to the FoA website and look at their rules and regs. |

xpiher, I had no intention of going into detail about the whole GMs lacking integrity issue when I had originally posted this thread. Basicly, my intent was to post a non-biased and accurate assessment of how I, personally see the game in its current state. AoC has been, and still is an absolutely beautiful platform of a game. It has tons of potential, and I would not want to mislead anyone to that fact. However, the game is being managed, updated and monitored in an extremely poor fashion that is leading to incidents such as this, and it is become more and more common place as anyone can see within its own community. Issues like these can not be openly discussed on the FunCom forums, the moderators there will lock down any thread that deals with anything of a serious nature almost instantly. I did not expect FC-Famine to know of my personal experience, however when he sent me a private message here saying that he looked into it, and spoke to the customer service manager and they "claim" to never had an issue like this, he opened the can of worms. I have absolutely no reason to be comming onto the MMORPG.com forums, wich I have been a member of for several years, and ruin my reputation here by lying to the community. And the way he worded his message to me was offensive, and suggested that I was in fact doing that. Now some other people have posted up about the GM accounts being transferable, and to me, this is just total crap if this is in fact the truth. I was upset previously with the way they handle things, but this... this is just stupidity on their part. Personally, I am finished with the game. I had entertained thoughts of going back, giving it some time, etc.. however now that some of this stuff has come to light, I am just disgusted with FunCom and its lack of ethics altogether. * sorry for ranting there.. just a bit agrivated at the whole situation now. |
