Is all over the swedish newspaper, a 15 year old kid did a 24 hour gameing session in WOTLK..

Seems like he is ok now but there is lotsa whining about MMOs here.

Doesn't the parents have any sence today? My parents would slap me silly for that.

For you that can read swedish, here is a link:www.aftonbladet.se/nojesbladet/recensioner/spelnytt/article3788342.ab

I like MMOs as much as the next one, and Im in excellent shape but I would never do a 24H anyways, I mean it isn't fun once you get really tired.

So when you drive for 24 hours straight and kill yourself, is it the cars fault?

So like people to try to blame it on the game when it should be obvious to anyone that the parents were the complete failure here.

May contain nuts.

A lot of parents of the older generation just have no idea about the internet or MMO's nowadays. I would hope that those of us who have been brought up with this technology will be more aware and responsible when we have kids.

"Easy" only equals "better" for crack addicts and MMORPG developers.

And how is it so much the fault of the parents...as it is of the kid himself? Seriously if the kid at 15 is too dumb to take a break.... I hope the parents take away his PC for a few months....that is what I would do.

meh, aftonbladet is a sad excuse for a newspaper anyway. and i can't say i've seen it on the news, so it's not like they blow it up here or anything. actually didn't hear about it until this very thread.

Lolz, people do need to be held accountable for their own actions. The 15 year old should have known better and I would have thought normal parents might have jumped in after a few hours. I’m sure there is more to this then just WoW, the game didn’t stop him from getting up. This sounds like an addiction that has gone too far, I’m sure this wasn’t the boys first day of WoW and I’m sure this wasn’t his first all nighter.

Here in Canada a 15 year old ran away from home  and later found dead after his parents took away his video game.

"Steve and his wife, Angelika Crisp, say that, for the past three years, their son has been obsessed with playing an online game called Call of Duty 4. They claim he was playing the game everyday until 4 a.m."

You know,

It is the parents who are to blame here!

There is something called parental controls in the Account Management of any decent MMO out there in wich you can restrict access for minors like this 15 year old kid.

The fact that he could game on for 24hours says enough that his parents don't give a damn about their own kid.

And that is most sad in all of this. So many parents just have kids just for having them, but completely forget about the responsibility they carry for their kids till they are at least 18 years old!

Cheers

You know I put the blame for something like this and the incident that happened in Canada solely on the parents.  I know some people here say that "how is it the parents fault" well basicly as a parent you have to be involved with what your kids are doing.  I know my parents used to know all my friends and there parents to just be sure I was ok all the time.  They watched the games that I played and if it looked to violent or not appropriate they would take it away or sit me down and have a discussion about what the game is doing and that it was not real life.  Heck even "The Bugs bunny and Tweety" show was explained that it was not real and that TV and Real life are very different.  Guess that is why I never hit someone with a hammer...LOL.

Basicly what I am saying is Parents have to be involved and work with there kids so that they have a good grasp on reality.  When all is said and don any MMO is nothing more then a GAME!!!  Just like checkers, chess, monopoly, risk...etc they game in the end is something to take your mind of reality for awhile but you have to realize that it will end sometime.  Another reason I say parents are not that involved in what there own kids do is this, last year I worked at Best Buy for 10 months part time, shutter, anyway near Christmas a lady and her 7 year old sone brought up some games to buy for his xbox.  Now as I was scanning them in one of the games said, "Check for ID" the game was rated T by the ESRB.  When I told the lady about the game being a restricted game she scoffed at me and said, "just sell it to me", "My kid wants it and he is going to get it."  I laughed and thought in my head, "This is why some people should not become parents."  I don't know just my 2 cents I guess.
