I canceled just a few days ago sadly. I didnt want to feel this way, but like AoC, i felt that it was a huge waste of money and time. One thing is very clear, the game was released too early. It was just too...shallow. It really felt like the Developers at mythic didnt really think it through... classes, items, its all underwhelming. I have seen more armor and weapons in a generic f2p mmorpg, which is bad. Classes were just...well unpolished. It felt like half of the order classes were just randomly tossed together without actually spending quality time designing them, where as on destruction (i played both), it felt like much more time went into the classes. The real thing that killed it for me though, was that Mythic was unable to provide a worth while game where WAR WAS EVERYWHERE. Its a scenario game, and so far its some of the worst pvp I have had. Im not saying its horrible pvp, but from my past experiences, its one of the most shallow and boring experiences i have faced. If there was more to the game mechanics, more activity, more pride in your race/faction, more unity, and most of all more class polish, it can very well be a good pvp game. But right now, it really fails at being anything but satisfactory or subpar. I bought the game to PvP and it was a let down. Sadly...very sadly, i had more fun in that imbalanced piece of crap known as age of conan..pvp wise. If WAR didnt feel so bland, dead, plastic, anti-dynamic, and full of clones, I could see it going far. Personally I blame it on two things, the early release and bad game design (i think they made some mistakes in the structure and approach to pvp and pve) zoning and gameplay.
Thats just my opinion though. |

You can either agree with me or be wrong! |
Red eye mountain just tried to take a fort for the second time and crashed for the second time, losing 8 hours of progress as the zones reset. Performance certainly sounds like a big issue. |

I canceled today, really to bad because I really had fun with the base potential of this game.
But anytime a company refuses to fix the glaring bugs in the game, the moral and ability timers irked me the most, and focus all its efforts on nerfing and class "balance" issues, it is time for me to move on. I will not paly a game that seems to follow the same model as SOE, and since EQ1 I have not or ever will not play a SOE game again. Time to try something else for a while, maybe if they focus on fixing bugs I will consider returning. |

The lacking PvP combat system and horrible out of synch controls. Terrible for a PvP orientated game. You are playing against the system controls and laggy combat instead of fighting other players. The classes were very poorly designed. PvE was terrible compared to what was shown by the real competition these last few days. The RvR was a good idea but badly implemented. I hope Wow or KOTOR will make something along the lines of some strategic goal in PvP. But a lot of lessons can be learned from this failed attempt. I also think people want to fight and the overall goal is less important for many players. ------ I learned my lesson now. No more AoC or War hype. No hype anymore for me.. I only will play games from good established game companies that can deliver instead of hyping thin air.

I purchased Warhammer because I wanted to get back the experience of DAOC. When I played DAOC I wa completely immersed in the lore, exploring was amazing and it was exciting to delve into dangerous dungeons. Fighting in the frontier was even more exciting, since the game could instantly change from peacefully grinding mobs, to a group member all of a sudden dying, and then you would spend the next 15 minutes tracking down and killing an enemy Scout. Warhammer wasn't exciting, and it wasn't interesting. There's nothing interesting in instantly flying all around the world and sitting in war camps all day fighting in FPS style scenarios. In DAOC keeps were important and would turn into epic army vs. army battles. In Warhammer people ran around sacking empty keeps back and forth... for what purpose? Warhammer wasn't nearly as fun as a game the same company made 7 years ago, and that's why it does't deserve my subscription. |

I really have to agree. War is not a bad game, and I may go back to it at some point, but at the moment, it is not immersive. At this point, they could throw away all pve content, and make the rvr lakes instanced, and the game would be better off for it. With virtually no death penalties, no economy, War ends up with a disturbingly similar vibe to Auron's "Fury". It is just the direction that the community is driving this game. People seem to want their games to be easier and more simplified, and wanting to please their customers, developers comply. In the end, we lose what made this class of games special. Immersion. Could you imagine the amount of complaints if mythic implemented a "blind" spell effect like they had in EQ1? Yes, it was harsh, but it was also realistic, and the first couple times it happened were very memorable. (I have no idea if this was ever changed, but it used to turn your entire screen black, no hud, or anything). The feeling was that you were affected by the spell, and not just gained a new debuff icon in the corner of the screen. I really wanted to like War, and I do, but not for the reasons that I had wanted. I enjoy War for the same reasons I enjoy Team Fortress 2. |
