I was thinking of this.

When you die you get to pivk you're revive point out of the towns or safe areas you visited before.

You lose 20% exp and drop alll your items on the spot.

PvP would be limited to only a few areas in game which will be marked so you can't pretend you don't know you walked into a PvP area-death penalty is the same.

Agresive Pk will be hunted down for bouties set by other players-note-a bounty-hunter can attack a pk anywhere-the system decides which people are labled as player killers.

Now a few more things about the penalty.

All players will have an energy bar-everytime they die some energy will be removedfrom the bared-reason doesn't mater.

Having 0 energy points means that the next death you recieve will be permenant.

There would be special potion with which you can refill energy bar or even increase its limit-however the potions would be very hard to manufacture with a high fail rate.

Character level would not influence the manufacture rate in any way-same chance of making these potions for all.

Only one thing creates peace and that''s me "The Hitman".

Sounds like a mixture of:

1. Conquer Online (Bounty Hunting and marked PVP areas, xp loss when you die and items dropped)

2. Dransik/ Ashen Empires (when you die you lose all your items and your body starts decaying until the point where its completely gone and anyone can pick up your items)

3. And that new game where I hear when you die its permanent. Dofus or w.e. its called.

Not the whole game dofus has permanent death.

Just 1 server.

check out the levels these players got before recieving permanent.

kind of impresive-I neverhit 100 in any mmorpg I played-got bored of the grind.

http://www.dofus.com/en/mmorpg-game/heroic-server.html

In dofus sebscribers are kings nonscribers are begars-like 80% of the game is subscriber only.

Heroic server is subscriber too.

If these people where smart they could have made it free-considering it has permanent death and all.

All permanent death games should be cash free and subscription free.

Asheron's Call had / has a good death penalty.

A % gear stays on your dead body.

You have to go back to it to recover it

You lose a % of your stats each time you die. The more you die the greater the loss.

You have to work off your penalty through EXP to get back to full stats after death penalty.

Shiver .. horrible ... more grinding. We are playing games here. Death should be just a little inconvenience.

No it shouldnt. It should be a challenge. That's why all the current games suck ass. Because there's no more challenge in them.. There's no risk vs reward. It's all bullshit handed to you on a silver platter.

I don't think that dropping items is the answer. Death should be punishing but it shouldn't feel like you wasted your time.

Looking forward to:
The Agency, DC Universe, Aion

no it shouldn't death should be a big deal ... you shouldn't want to die. screw it lets play a game where mobs dont even fight back because we don't want the gamers to not have fun and winning is fun.

probably blizzards next game design.

now while i don't agree on permadeath i think death should be fairly harsh I liked EQ2 death penalty when it first game out ... xp loss, heavy stat loss until you get your "shard" back.

Good news that developers are not listening to you. If death penalty is higher, everyone would be very careful and take little risks.

Now I actually don't have to worry about making up my lost xp when i tried something new.

And apparently this approach works and expand the market.
