Hey guys here are my thought's on the beta test of TCoS.

The game is/was alot of fun and very refreshing from other mmo's but it will not be for everyone,no game is,but more so with TCoS.

The combat system I loved,no auto attack,no hidden rolls, basically you would unsheath your weapon to bring up the sight I then pulled with a range spell and then start to add debuffs/buffs then attack with melee while keeping up the buffs, you can also dodge attacks with straf and moving backwards,it really is alot of fun, also the enemies are alot smarter they dont just stand there waiting for you to hit them, they will also back off to get out of your range.

The skill-deck is really good,to start with you are only given a few spells and a couple of rotation's of the skill-deck and you are given more spells and places on the skill-deck as you level, you cant just throw them in anywhere you really have to think about this, you could end up with a rotation were all your spells in the deck line are on cooldown or maybe you need a heal some aoe damage so thought is needed,I doubt there will be many player's with the same deck set-up.

The graphics are really nice, dark and mysterious, someone said they looked like a cross between wow and AoC and I think that is a fair comment, they could use some different npc/enemy types,as you level you will come across the same sorts way too often which is a bit of a shame its almost like the devs ran out of idea's so just kept putting the same one's in.

Questing can be both fun and maybe a touch annoying,You have the usual fed-ex quests, kill x amount of this type but you also have some really funny quest lines(humor in tcos is maybe the best I have seen in a mmo)also some fun quests with a difference,I am sure everyone will enjoy the murder quest at the start but they could have added more of these quest type's into the game, although there are quite a few of these more original quests somemore would not have hurt.

The biggest killer for people in questing could very well be you dont have a direction arrow or big red flag on your map telling you where to go,I love to adventure in games and find things without having to be led by the hand but in tcos sometimes it is just to vague,It doesnt matter how many times you read the quest and think about it you will just have to go on blind instinct,or ask in chat,it can be the quest giver is telling you to goto another zone and you just have no idea how to get to that zone,no directions in the quest,no signpost's,no nothing.I can see come release the chat being filled with direction questions.

The music is really great it really is,I found myself having it upto the top in some area's,this you can find out for yourself.

I think just about everyone knows about the character creation,if not just think along the line's of CoX.

To sum up,you will have to love the combat system if this game is going to be for you,I very much doubt someone will say "yeah the combat isnt really for me but still love the game",for some the killer could be the fact you WILL have to explore and at times be pretty calm when you cant find something,I guess even the fact that there isnt an arrow or flag showing you where to go will be enough for people not to try the game, for people that do enjoy the combat there is alot of fun to be had inside the spellborn world.

The game isnt perfect, there are still bugs there and some of the animation like going down stairs are pretty bad but like anything else these are fixable.

The big killer for me and the reason I may not play the game at release is they just announed today that player's from the UK wont be able to play on the EU server's,I Live in Holland but come from the UK and wanted to play with some of those guys and I have quite a few people from quite a few years ago I was going to meet up with, not only that I feel in EU servers that dont have any English speaking countries the ingame chat could be a mess with different language's and also feel that English speaking guild's will be few and far between, maybe I am wrong but I just feel that the different countries will have there own guilds set up with a spatter of English speaking 1's,Also I am not sure how the UK guys will feel about being on the same server's as the NA guys and vice versa,2 totally different time zone's and I am sure this will put some player's off.

It is really a shame that UK is considered US. But, the main language for TCoS will be english, even in the "eu" part.

I think you missed the point and no I am not being racist!

The fact that I cant play with guild mate's because they are from the UK and although alot of players do speak and type English I think they very well might have guilds from there own countries as there wont be all the guilds from the UK,I also didnt say there wouldnt be any english speaking guilds but I do think there will be alot less in TCoS were there are no native English speaking countries on the server.

Dont forget alot of guilds go from game to game or part of the guilds do and these guilds are made up of a mixture of players from all over Europe and in the guilds I have been in quite a few from the UK,so now those guilds will be split and that will turn alot of players off this game imho.

Thanks for the review. To be honest after all the reviews I have read on TCOS, I have suddenly lost a lot of interest in it. It just sounds incomplete and apart from the combat system more of the same, if it really needs all this content as most of the beta previews/reviews I have read suggest, then why not just keep it in beta longer? You only get one chance, seems like they are going to blow it.

And I really do not like the idea of having to play on American servers, it really does not make sense for the UK to have to play on servers where A) they will lag like hell because of the location of said servers, and B) the timezone difference. Although that could also be a good thing because no matter when you play there would be people online.

Ill keep an eye on the game, I think it may be one of those mmos Ill play after its first couple of content patches.

I'm a UK resident and I always play on US server when possible. I usually end up having games shipped from the US just so I can. With the US having such a massive gaming population with a lot people not working a standard 9-5, I've never had issues with grouping and such due to timezones.

I don't mean this offensively in any capacity, but I don't enjoy any situation where people talk in languages that I don't understand. At least the yanks try to speak English

They did not announce that. And when you are referring to what Banshee said on the closed beta forum, she said that will probably be the case, but she also said that they are still gathering last details about IP blocking. So there will be IP blocking, but the details are not yet known.
