I would have to say I would try it regardless. I wont recommend it or add it to our list for my Guild unless I play it first, but whatever

Current Game: Ryzom

I think this poll is being read in different ways by each person here.  What if it was A:) Free to Download and 10$/month to play the beta? Or even a flat fee 25$ and you get the first three months free? Something like that...?

Some people are like slinkies, they dont really have a purpose, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down the stairs.

im going to say no. i got sucked into the AoC hype and will never do that again until i am able to at least beta test an mmo. i would never buy one blindly and not know anything about it again. i first would want to read some reviews on the game and at least talk to someone i know who has played the game.

"We''re not making a game for Trekkies" Daron Stinnett, Perpetual Entertainment

Not a chance.  When I smell DFO, I smell D&L all over again.

"I'll take MMO disasters for $50, Alex."

"This MMO release in 2008 lost half its player base in the first month after massive hype of non existent features"

"What is Age of Conan?" ...

"Correct, for $50, Ed2099"!

Same here, was ready to say this before opening this thread.  I won't fall for another bullshit D&L.  Hopefully it won't be like that.

I don't need to personally try it, nor do I need to try every MMORPG on the market. I've played MMORPGs for a long time now (7 years), so I am pretty adept at knowing if I will like a game or not. I'll pretty much be relying on player reviews from the target audience, not the mainstream gamers that give it a try and find out they hate it (big surprise).

If the majority of reviews are good and they say the game is stable and balanced, I'll give it a try eventually. I say eventually, because I actually like WoTLK and can see myself playing it for many months to come. Plus SW: ToR is out there in the future sometime and that takes priority over everything. So we'll see how the reviews come and when they release the game in relation to how long WoTLK has been out and how long SW: ToR has until it will be released. DF really is my dream game though, too bad it's being made by Indy Developers without much money to release a polished game, which I am used to by now. Adventurine needs to earn my respect before I buy their game and they will earn in when they can maintain subs from their core audience.

Given what we know of the MMO genre, I guess I'm surprised there would be even 1 who would buy not just DarkFall... but ANY MMO without an Open Beta or Free Trial.

Perhaps the promise of what DarkFall could be is enough?  I guess I just don't have that kind of trust anymore.  Hopefully the DarkFall Devs will do the right thing as they've stated time and again that they will... we'll all find out soon.

I voted "Yes " for the same reason I buy a single player game without playing the demo. First, $50 isn't going to break me. Second, I can rely on reviews from others that play it, since I'm experienced enough in the genre to know what type of game I like. If players are reviewing the game to be what I like, I might give it a try eventually.

Hell was build for heroes.

If it got released and people and press says it's great. Then Yes, I would buy it.

Without any words about it. No, i don't

It is pitty that people find satisfaction by misbehaving on a gaming site.
