so in conclusion, i am sorry to say that you don't have what it takes to be a EVE player. so go play your solo user friendly games and leave EVE to those who can take thieves and pirates as "part of the game" P.S. i dont know what you would have done in Ultima Online. where if you die you loose everything and your house who is locked and boobie traped could completely be stolen by a thieves guild. (lockpick, detect trap) yoink! you come back the next day to an empty house (including your furniture and your hired vendors dead) but that was part of the game and honestly this kind of game is a type that has more chance of having a healthy economy. (sorry for the long post)

I guess theres different types of entertainment then. I don't go to a movie, so some moron can talk on his cell phone the whole time. I don't eat at a fancy restaurant so a solicitor can come in and ask me to feed his kids cause instead of working, he spends all his time begging. I never played UO, but I have played AC Darktide, DAoC PvP servers, Planetside, Shadowbane, SWG, WAR and several other PvP oriented games. Everyone of them has their own take on what PvP system works best. Theres a fine line between Hardcore PvP fanatics and PvP Enthusiasts. That line is called ganking, which usually consists of lowlife veteran players or high level toons who prey on lowbies, or in Eve's case, rookie pilots. Ganking is not a highly anticipated game feature in by any means. No one likes it except for maybe the sicko who has no life and grinds to max level in order to act out his power hungry fantasies in-game. PvP can be just as entertaining on a level playing field. Games that offer such an option would be First Person Shooters. Of course, you can mix FPS's into the MMO market to come up with something thats a little more, entertaining in terms of longevity. Eve is not setup to be friendly towards new players. Stealing is not illegal in Concord's eyes, yet attacking another ship is. No quarrels with CCP, but that sort of setup screams gankfest all over it. It's like the bully on the way to school, who takes your lunch money. Yes, that is what I live for in an MMO. To pay $15 a month so some other person can take advantage of my lack of abilities to retaliate. In my opinion, PvP doesn't need absurd risks to be entertaining. For me, fighting other players is all the entertainment I need. So no, losing everything I may have earned in 2 years all in a week is not the kind of game I would consider entertaining. Instead, I would call that a second job with a nightmare twist. I'm not afraid of PvP, just tired of people who enjoy ganking lowbies or rookies. Most other games allow you to eventually compete, but in Eve, if you keep getting killed, you lose isk and with no isk, you cant buy new skills or ships. Eve isn't PvP, it's just a bully's playground. |

Eve isn't PvP, it's just a bully's playground. ive started the game 4 times now... never hapened to me. stay in 1.0 -0.4 space until you are ready to go out into the harsh world. according to the description of the type of game you want, the only thing i have to tell you is: go play unreal tournament... oh wait someone that has been playing 2 years of unreal can totally own a rookie who just started.... still to harsh for you... lets see.... i guess hellokitty online for you. but in all seriousness what you are looking for is a tournament style pvp form of MMO. where you enter a pvp area with a warning that says " YOU ARE ENTERING A PVP AREA" try guild wars controlled pvp tournament style and you can build your character acordingly.
and finally, NEW PLAYERS BEWARE, be smart and youl be ok.

.4 you can be shot without the NPC cops jumping in. Safe security systems are 1.0 to 0.5 if you attack another player in "high sec" systems (1.0 to 0.5) NPC cops WILL KILL YOU and kill you very fast. So all this crying about CCP letting gankers just gank anything shows you must have been traveling into low security systems where police are not around. As for the OP. EvE is a step beyond any other MMO out. It's been upgraded constantly over the years with MUCH more soon coming on the horizon. 2009 is going to be a kick ass year for EvE. As for the community of EvE, like EVERY MMO it has it's bad elements. Seems EVERY MMO has been developing a less mature bunch of whiney spoiled pukes. In EvE, they just make good targets. Remember, EVERYONE is on the same server in EvE, you get many good and bad people from all over the world. Just find a good corp. Being in a good corp makes EvE. Don't be fooled, new players can become handy in PVP very early on in fleets. NO other MMO allows new players to compete in fights with Max level characters. In EvE there is no levels, only skills, and what ship you are flying at the time. From day 1 you can fit a excellent tackler ship (among other paths) and be very important to a fleet. Safe zones are very much safe if you just take very simple precautions. I have never been attacked in high security systems in over 2 years in game (except when my corporation was war decd, but that's different). EvE has one of the most important elements also, Longevity. You can be certain EvE will be around for a long time and constantly improving along the way. Walking avatars are coming in a few months also.
P.S. anyone doubting the fact NPC will kill you when you attack another player in high sec, drop by Isinokka I will let you fire on me and watch CONCORD blow you to bits. |
