Lord of the Rings Online

 I like LOTRO and I upgraded over the weekend, but before I upgraded I thought that I would finish off Volume 1. I found I was unable to do this as half way through Book 15 the NPC that gives you the quest was locked with the message 'You have to upgrade to Mines of Moria to talk to this NPC' !

I was a bit shocked as I was still playing the Shadows of Angmar volume, not the MOM volume. After messaging a GM I found that it was a bug that they were working on. A very convenient bug for Turbine!

I upgraded anyway so was able to carry on with volume 1 until I got to Book 15 Chapter 12 and had to find a group. The quest itself is a group quest that requires a full group and the quest states it as level 52, and no group would play with anyone lower than level 53 - it is a hard quest. Why would a quest to finish off volume 1 be set higher than is possible to get without upgrading to Mines of Moria. The level cap for Shadows of Angmar is 50, so why finish it off with a level 52 quest - another convenience to Turbine!

I don't care so much as I was planning on upgrading and have done so - I just think that it's a bit cheeky!!

There were a lot of bugs with the release of MoM.  I'm sure you have still seen people running with their arms out like a scarecrow?

And many MMO's have higher level group quests or NPC's to fight to encourage grouping.  Or even to stress how epic of an event it is.  I mean, you can't solo the whole book quests, so what is the big deal?

 No big deal - as I said I thought it was a bit cheeky. I realise that quests are set highter to make them tougher but this particular quest really is very tough and does require a full group and if even one of that group is only level 50 then I don't see anyone making it through. I am not going to re-attempt it until I get to about level 53 and I see people on the lff channel stating that they want 'only people above level 50' - effectively making it impossible to do this quest without upgrading

Lol, that is a funny bugg. Got a screenshot?

With a fellowhip of lvl 50 players ( all hardcore raiders with full rift fire prot pots ...) we got that boss to 1/5 of its health.

And we didnt have a burg adn not using vent.

This quest is doable by lvl 50 people, its just the hardest one in the whole game (pre mom). This is logical sicne its the last quest (or one of the last ones) of that volume.

Its not because you cnat do it that it cant be done, always remember that.

LOL I agree that Turbine did a very good job of dangling the "upgrade carrot" in front of everyone's face.  If you aren't upgraded, you can acquire legendary items but not identify or use them.  You can see where Moria begins but you can't go in there.  And there are multiple quests in Eregion that are level 51+.  Would be very hard not to upgrade.

Yes book 15 chapter 12 is hardest chapter in whole volume 1...and its doable whit only level 50's in full epic gear, i gess thay made it that hard that non mom byers have a lot to do.

Well, this bug looks really really "buggy" this kind of thing shouldn't happend.
