However, there are people who ARE listening to this music, like these movies and like WoW.

So just because there are a lot of boxes being sold it doesn't discount that they are being sold to people who are excited and interested in the product.

the reverse is true to you know.

Tell me how much you listen to 12 tone music each day and how much you love it.

I think it's perfectly ok for people to be excited and want to shout to the rafters that something they like/love is doing well. I don't see why it is necessary to tear that down.

WoW feels like the MTV of the MMO world. Too popular, yet nothing worthy. But that's just a personal opinion of course.

I was never the MTV person, but I respect the people who enjoy popular things. Just don't make a fuzz about it :)

I hope those aren't actual results, by those numbers "..000001%" means with a player base of say 12 million, less than 1/8th of a player has a multiple account.  (that's not even 1 whole member) so it would take 7/8ths more of a person for someone to have a multiple account.

Well if we start splitting people into fractions that would be murder, I personally do not volunteer to be a member of your absurd statistic as I do not want to be chopping into 8 pieces...

Also if less than 5% of the player base has multiple accounts and only .000001% of those players has than two accounts, we can safely say that you have violated the laws of  "statistic over exaggeration" and you will probably (if you haven't already) fail your statistics class if you have or ever plan on taking one.

I hope someone found this as entertaining to read as I found it to write,  no offense intended I am just playing with your words.

i duno about diablo 2 cuz i lost my cd's thus my cd key so i haven't bothered but i checked the origional diablo not but a week ago shortly after checking on the status of daiblo 3. I can say for sure that the player base of the origional diablo game on b.net is down to around 3-5 players, of course maybe with the addition of the gold sellers on diablo 2 plus the player base you may still be right.

Ever notice when someone wants to discount subscriber numbers, they always say " everyone is a gold-seller or a multi-boxer". I read a post somewhere and some guy honestly said that 4-5M of wow's subscribers are gold-sellers.

Okay I am a newbie at forums I think that is obvious.  Anyhow I would like to clearly state, so that there is no confusion, that I in no way was intending to discredit diablo 2 by my comment of gold sellers on the game...

I am done.

I think you sort of have it.

the problem here (which I think is hilarious) is that Video games seem to have a "classical" or more serious era. Suddenly there is a popularity and a lot of concepts that we find in popular movies/music find themselves now in video games.

There is absolutely nothing different here that hasn't gone before regarding how people react to something that takes hold in hte public's conscious. I know that many of you probably listen to some sort of rock, even if it's not "pop". Well, remember, when rock was first introduced there were many people who absolutely hated it and thought it  would never last. Heck, my mother thought it was a joke album the very first time she heard a rock record.

People... this is why we study history. so we understand the cycles of how humanity works. This is all old hat and nothing unexpected.

But see my Schoenberg example in my post above for all those who want to wrap themselves around something that's NOT popular ; )

I don't eat at McDonalds when there are hundreds of millions of people in the world visiting McDonalds every day. It's not that I care about my health or anything, but just because people go there does NOT make me try those.

Same with the most popular movies. I never went to theatres for Titanic for example. Instead I want to go to a movie which I would enjoy, not to the movies people go in the opening weekend.

So let me get this straight.  You won't try some things just because they are popular?  Some times there are good reasons that something is popular.  Sure, there are some stupid fads that come and go and for awhile they are popular, but WoW isn't one of them.  WoW has been popular for 4 straight years now.  It's not some fad.  Now that doesn't mean that YOU will like it.  You may not.  But to avoid something JUST because it's popular is pretty narrow minded if you ask me.

Let it be Pappy13. these are youngsters, struggling with their attitude. No use discussing this.

I guess the man missed about every top 20 film ever produced, from the Godfather to Lord of the Ring trilogy etc....

In the meantime I met a fellow at the launching night of WotLK who complained to me he had lost 3 years in MMORPG gaming because he deliberatly refused to play Wow -  he found it too popular -.

I asked him ONE question: if he visited mmorpg.com.

Of course he answered yes. He was so thankful to the shopkeeper ( an avid Wow player) who advised him to give Wow a try. The guy was so sad to have begun with the game only a while ago. He now has a Death Knight made out of his main character. He doesn't stop talking about the bullshit being spread on mmorpg.com forums.

It shows just how sad this public is becoming.

Blizzard produces jewelry for pigs. I know this is harsh to say, but a lot of people deserve products like XXX and XXX.

I have a collection of 500 DVDs which includes LOTR, Godfather (one of my favorite movies of all times) and Matrix. Yes, these were also popular but I enjoyed them. How would you explain this?

I am 32 years old, so I am not a youngster. Even my signature is from a movie, which you will fail to recognize. Go ahead and search it in the interwebs, because it DESCRIBES people like you!!!

Too bad Blizzard is not paying me a salary to put positive crap stuff in the forums. I would be a real fanatic if they did :)
