WOW what can i say.. for some reason this game dont have that kick as it use to...

Lag and slow response.. making a new character and play it kills you after just 30 min.. so slow and boring that its amazing.. i liked the scenario better when the game got out and u ran in the city and made missions.. and then otside the city.. this new  well not that new beginners zone is really bad.. this was the 4th time i tried to play the game and definately the last attempt...

i had 2 good runs in this game where i enjoyed it but the last 2 times is just awful.. its geting laggier and worse for each time i tried..

all the changes has been for the worse and havent helped the game at all.

i deleted my lvl 200 soldier now and all other crap i had..

really dissapointed at this game

"Searchers after horror haunt strange, far places..." ~ H.P. Lovecraft, "From Beyond"

So what I am getting from your barely coherant and legible posts is that you have and have had an ongoing problem with latency playing AO, and you don't like the new play experience.

Personally I haven't had any trouble with latency in AO. At least not anything out of the ordinary for any MMOG. I would imagine that part of the problem could be the older game engine, but TBH I still don't have enough latency issues to really say it makes the game frustrating or unplayable.

I suppose the new player experience in AO is a matter of taste. I don't particularly have a problem with it. I think it's passably well done and teaches new players the basics of the game before they go out into the wider worlds of AO. You can also basically skip the entire "Noob Isle" section if you want because you can take the teleporter to the mainland as soon as you get there. I haven't made a new character in a while, but afaik it hasn't changed much since then. I am pretty sure you can also choose which new player area you start in if you are on a pay account with Shadowlands.

Sorry AO isn't for you...

Newb Island has not been around for 4 years . . but close enough to say 4 years. It was introduced with the  Alien Invasion expansion.

prior to that, you started in the Arrival Hall.  From there you chose if you want to start in Clan/Omni/Neutral.

You could talk with some of the NPC's there and get a small/Starting understanding about the conflict on RK.

Newb Island you just crash there and start. No info what is happening in Rubi-Ka . I liked the back yards, more then the newb Island. And Arrival Hall I think was better for a first timer to start from.

As for the Op mentioning  something about lag . . for the past couple weeks, I have  been getting laggy in AO, Read  I think it was on Official forums, but it had something to do with the ISP that AO is on. Something to that effect.  To lazy and ready to get some sleep to find the post.

Other then that, lag is a lot less then what  was like 4 years ago.

getting out of the the backyards, then pass through the sewers district and entering omni entertainment for the 1st time was really a great moment in AO for me (in beta years ago).

Ya, I remember starting AO for the first time, getting out from Clan starting area and into the city for the first time. It wasnt only a great AO moment but I can hoenstly say that no other game and certainly not WoW gave me that feeling. I havent played AO for a loooooong time, not since the release of WoW but I really miss the atmosphere of AO, the feeling of greatness it gave me.

I had the "lag" experience in that I got 2-5 fps. I researched the problem further, and even got a dev response, and even though a lot of rendering is done via CPU it just doesn't like some high end hardware (I was on a quadcore at 3.2 ghz). I was basically told to hang tight and try again when the new engine comes out as it will address these problems.

AO has so much to offer, actually, and I don't much care for how Funcom handled AoC (bad experience). I feel quite left out with AO, I can see what it has that makes it unique! I have an older system with a 7 series card, maybe I'll fix it up so I can play it.

i dont get the Op's problem regarding the starting area....

You miss the scenarios, or missions?   They are still there, you can do them.

Perhaps you didnt realize that the starter area is optional, and that you can leave at anytime, given you get the key out from talking to an npc.

If you hate the starter area you can leave at level 1, do a few misssions in rome or athens or w/e then start on the subway if you want.

Also most of the lag is due to the fact that this game is so old that it barely even uses your gfx card, hopefully one day they actually get that new engin implimented, if it ever happens that is.
