Ok, Whoever would be nieve enough to knock Lucas your an idiot. The man is great at what he does, and has a lot of money. Sounds like the kind of guy I want backing me in whatever I do. Just because he backs something doesn't mean hes going to be doing ANYTHING with creating a game. Hell if they let him write some of the quests, or lore, I think the entire community would benifit from that. |

I used to be a huge Star Wars fan. . . so. . . First of all, the first ( 4,5,6) three movies weren't ground breaking or visionary in terms of story telling. In fact, it has been proven beyond argument, that George Lucus was just as much a "cloner" as SWG/NGE is in regards to WoW. All of his story writing is completely and totally by the book Myth. Which is why it was so popular; that "story" has worked FOREVER. Secondly: The last three movies (1, 2, 3) were arguably horrendous (this of course is just a widely held opinion), which is what we should have expected with Georgie flexing his creative muscle. Thirdly: George Lucas DID NOT create "the Star Wars Universe". He created a canvas. So many other brilliant minds and creative people have fleshed out that universe. All he did was create a "Mad Libs" with mythical concepts stuck in the appropriate places. Saying that George Lucas is a Creative Genius or a great story-teller is synomous with trying to claim he INVENTED modern story-telling. Which he did not. He just ripped it off. Everything he has every produced, or had his hands in, is A: a faliure. (episodes 1, 2, 3 and some would argue 6; SWG/NGE) B: if not a failure, a success, only because more creative people who were in the back ground, some how managed to create a successful product, despite George Lucas' involvement. (Clone Wars cartoon, KotOR; Episode 5; SWG-PRECU) C: a complete rip-off of an already successful formula. (Stars Wars Battle Front, episode 1;) And I am not, and I would argue that there isn't, a contigent of people who are bandwagonning, or dislikineg him because it is fashionable. I, like many other, realize as we mature, that not all of our favorite things are actually good, and that not all of our Idols (childhood or otherwise) are still worthy of our idolization. |

I think BioWare is something as an artist and filmaker that he can relate to because of their story telling for this game. But I can see Lucas Arts the "staff" already pushing for World of Warcraft rip offs and subscription numbers. But that is only my opinion. I really want to see TOR do well. I like the artist and hate the management. |

I like the artist and hate the management. I would like to see it do well, but I doubt it will. I'll use this thread on the official forums as an example: http://www.swtor.com/ The gist of that is 12 reasons that Bioware feels that WoW is successful, and the lessons they have "learned" from that. Reading that, one realizes that this game will LIKELY be a piece of linear, restrictive garbage, following the formula of "Dialogue, kill, loot, dialogue, repeat". Bioware MAY surprise me....but from all that I've read lately, we're looking at WoW + Lightsabers + Dialogue. I'm losing faith in this industry....losing faith that we'll ever have anything new that isn't just another WoW clone.

| I remember back in 1999, folks kept asking me if I was stockpiling food. I always answered, "No, I'm stockpiling ammo and making a list of people who are stockpiling food" |
