Relax! Its a matter of taste. I laughed my ass of when i saw the running animation. But the other animations i had no problem with. Overall the game looked very smooth. And thats what matters. And to redirect the BS acklaim, animations are not that hard to change. As long they have the basics done. And seriously, how much did we see? Enough to change every view of the game? Dont think so. Maybe we will see a longer video soon.
I agree that it's a matter of taste. But I think even the most ardent fan is going to have trouble being estatic about that video for a number of reasons.

While I will agree with your points, you're last remark is utter rubish. It's an anti-conclusion. I believe something to be true, so every thing must adhere to my belief. It's exactly what most of the (heavy) skeptics are accusing the fanboys, which they always do themselves though, whithout wanting to admit to.
I'm confused. What's rubbish about it? Gameplay shouldn't be smooth in an empty world? Should I be impressed by smooth game play in an empty world? The world certainly seemed empty. At minimum, there weren't any other PCs in close proximity. Show me how smoothly it runs with tons of players online or in a common area with a lot of other players nearby and I'll be impressed. Until then, it's just window dressing... ~Ripper |

Graphics and Animations are one package? Really? For me, Darkfalls graphics look allright, nothing seriously spectacular, but they look decent. The animations however are horrible. Package you say. All right, so everything looks horrible. *shrug*
I -SAID- that they changed that. But I also know that they still haven't bothered to change their original announcement on their OFFICIAL site. Anyone coming fresh into DF will check out the site and see some crap about highly innovative, non-repetetive and fun crafting...only to later realize that has been scrapped.
Seriously, quit your rantings, you're nothing but a fanatic unleashed. |

One thing comes to mind.. Suck it! |
The thing is, how can you have innovation when you can't even do the basics right. Not only that but I wonder how stressed the servers will be when there is more than just 2 people playing in a room. Heh, I think this just shows a quality flaw and just will spiral downward. |

The point of this vid was clearly nothing to do with showing the gamplay. People wanted to see someone actually sitting down playing the game, well I guess that was it. As for the animations, imo, pretty low on the priority list with this game. If you are one of those that are all about the animation, well you're probably going to hate DF. The FPS must be kept as high as possible with as few as operations per cycle as possible. An increse in smoothness is an increase in work done, imo keep it as is until its populated and see if you have any room for change. For me, this vid still simply isn't enough, but much of that is probably those doing the vid. English spoken reviewers with english commentary would have been the only thing to really help tbh. |

interesting. looks like it could be fun, gameplay looks justlike oblivion. but like I said on youtube, no way did they hire a single proper animator with a degree. those animations are awful, I seriously think I could do better. |

The absence of Open Beta would seem to indicate that there ARE OTHER flaws that they are still working on with the Closed Beta Testers... as they should. However, to blindly proclaim the absence of any other flaws when we are less than a month away from release and still have zero information on OPEN BETA... is a bit pre-mature in my opinion.
Ok, let's rephrase it.
Seriously, If bad animation is DFs only flaw, I will be a very very happy man.
Oh wait a minute, I didn't had to rephrase it, you just need to learn to read more carefuly.
Ahh... see that emphasis on IF made all the difference in the world for me.
Perhaps I read your "tone" of your original statement incorrectly... wouldn't be the first time. I was just pointing out that the vast majority of us have no idea what the rest of the gameplay is really like... since we aren't in Beta and OPEN BETA is MIA. Without knowing that information we don't know if what we saw in that video is tolerable or not.
But yeah... If bad animation is DFs only flaw, I will be a very very happy man. A very big if. |

It is quite simply beyond realistic expectations to have the gameplay they say they are going to give and wow/aoc/lotr style animation. So long as the actual combat itself is fluid does it really matter? For some like yourself I guess it does, for others the important parts are the guts, the mechanics of the gameplay not the pretties. |
