After reading the, long and locked, thread about Darkfall there is a particular comment that got my attention. I believe it was from VPellen

What we have here is an odd case. Darkfall is a game which tends to keep quiet. Nobody can argue this. There are no sprawling NDA breaks. There are no large-scale screenshot leaks. There are occasional reviews where they let in outsiders who hold the universal consensus of "it's good but a little rough around the edges", but besides that, all significant content comes from either the source, or people who are publicly endorsed by the source. I don't think I've seen a single comment (not just on this website, but anywhere) which says "I'm in the beta and this thing sucks." In your standard MMO, you're going to get beta leaks and opinions every which way. We're not getting this with Darkfall.

Sorry for taking the text out of context but this paragraph really got me thinking.  If the above is true then is there ANY confirmation from an independant source that this game even exists? Such as it being shown in a game convention or a preview  from reviewer of a reputable organisation (such as gamespot or mmorpg.com)?

If not, then what is the limit for the time that mmorpg.com will list this "game"? I mean at alpha stages of a game then it is natural that you havent got anything to show but a real game is not in alpha for this long and if it is then it is not a proffesional game.

I mean at some point you need some kind of verification that the game actually exist and this latest "news" that beta testers arent allowed to say that they are in beta (and hence that a beta, or the game, even exists) I think puts further doubt that this game project is actually for real and if mmorpg.com should not remove it from the site.

I know this thread is going to be labeled by many people as "vaporware trolling" but I think I raise a legetimate question.

Is there any independant source confirming that this game is actually a real project? If not then how long should mmorpg.com keep this game listed and continue to perpetuate the belief that it is actually real?

Check some of the threads in this forum...or god forbid check the official boards.

It has been shown at a convention in the last 3 months and there are videos and screenshots from it.

There is plenty of hard proof that can not be disputed that this game exists.

"If people were dismissing it, then they wouldn't be talking about it. The well-meaning gamers root for efforts that try to raise the bar. So who's left? It's so easy being a skeptic." -Tasos

About six months ago someone made a post suggesting that Darkfall should be removed from the MMORPG.COM message boards. One of the MMORPG.COM bigwigs replied that Darkfall had submitted all the proof necessary to prove it was a game and thus would never be removed (the proof, as I recall, was six screen shots).

To answer your question about beta - no, there has been no independant verification. Hopefully MMORPG.COM will be able to see a beta of the game - the site owner recently suggested that MMORPG.COM will make the attempt. I hope something comes out of this attempt. Personally I don't put a lot of faith in "beta comments" released by Darkfall that all look like they were written by one person.

It was shown at Athens Digital week as well as having the 2 of the Moderators from MMORPG Italia playing the beta and doing the review. At the ADW (Athens Digital Week)  which is where they held the ESWC (Electronic  Sports World Cup)  press and others got to watch DarkFall being played live in front of them as Tasos talked about the game.

Not only this but I doubt they would sign GNi and pay them to host there servers if there wasn't a game, I doubt there Euro Distributor would have signed with them either without anything to show. I also doubt they would be subsidised by there goverment or have recieved a 20mil Euro loan not that long ago had they nothing to show lol.

The 17min In game Footage Vid as well as the ADW Presentation Vid and the MMORPG Itialia review as well as all the other factors involved seem to point to the fact that there is indeed a game and beta going on.

On the other hand the vaporware comments are backed by the fact there haven't been many if any beta leaks and the fact that Aventurine is pretty tight with there NDA.

So do some research on the matter and come to your own conclusions. I have and I haved weighed the information I have found against what the "Vaportrolls" are saying and to me they just seem to lack the credability to be taken serious.

This is just my personal opinion though and I encourage you to do the research and make your own decision based on your own findings.
