Everquest II

So I've played wow since launch and have gotten sick and tired of it, I love rpg's and story based games but wow is just too shallow for my tastes. Recently I've given swg a 2nd try, and have grown bored of it and am wondering, is eq2 the epic i've been looking for all these years. Is it interesting enough to keep my attention or is it just another mmorpg similar to wow, just another flavor?

If you seek for depth and challenge, EQ2 is not much different than WoW.
EQ2 was a serious game until 1 year ago, now is going towards the WoW crowd.

Anyway don't let me stop you from playing this game, EQ2 is not that bad, it just isn't anything special anymore, and if you are tired of WoW, I am not sure you will find what you are looking for in EQ2.
Anyway there is a free trial available, give it a try, you might  like the different Lore, Graphic and setting.

PS: BTW if it can help you, I played EQ2 for 3 years, but I just now moved to WoW, which to me at the moment is more fun and challenging than EQ2 (although challenging is probably the wrong word for WoW).

    EQ2s gameplay is pretty similar to WoW really....There are some different things in the game and it could possibly be a future home for ya.......Make sure you have a very solid PC before buying EQ2....It places pretty high demands on your system, especially later when you start raiding....... I played EQ2 for about 6 months before I got bored but I think alot of that had to do with playing EQ1 for so long and EQ2 just not measuring up.......While you can group and do things with guildies it seems like most people solo in EQ2 with occasional grouping to do a dungeon for quests (ie same as WoW).......

      Just like any game I think you need to try it for yourself and make your own judgments........Some people love the graphics some people hate it...Some people love the character models, some people hate them....Its all a matter of taste.

There are ppl who do or did play WoW and play EQ2. They can give you better insight if this has what you are looking for.

IMO, EQ2 is a little better than WoW.

Two things that hurt it are, firstly, the very f-ed up camera angles. Fighting in a dungeon with your camera going all haywire is very annoying. The second and biggest obstacle is the lack of players.

I played WoW. Lasted 3 weeks. Never again.

EQ2 is much better no matter what the naysayers spout.

They are similar games. As far as leveling goes, EQ2 is harder to solo to max because of fewer quests that are soloable and easy to run. I prefer EQ2 because the player base is more friendly. Not friendly as in give handouts, but more friendly as in not belittling people.

Okay first thing... one thread per question is more than enough, you started three within 10 minutes! Are you a Sony Employee doing viral marketing? Makes me wonder... now for my answer to your question.

If you started playing MMOs with WoW, you may be sorely dissapointed with EQ2, not because it's a bad game, but because it requires a great deal more patience and work than WoW.

Leveling will be much harder... you'll be lucky to make a level a day in EQ2 after 20th. You'll have to work to find good gear and items, although the chance that something usable drops off a monster is a bit more common than WoW...

To just put it in a nut shell, WoW is made for 12 year olds with 12 year old attention spans, EQ2 is made for adults, so well, it's not going to be as easy.

Will you enjoy the game? I loved it. It's an amazing game. The graphics aren't cartoony like WoW, and some of the landscapes are just amazing... I think it's definently a game all serious gamers should try, even if Sony manages it... Sony is possibly the worst gaming company in the freaking world.

So try it and see for yourself, is my opinion.

You find WoW more challanging than EQ2? did you ever try the T8 raids in EQ2?

WoW raids are a Joke compared to EQ2's and for leveling its ALOT harder in EQ2, I did 55 levels in a week on WoW try that on EQ2.

I've played EQ2 since Beta and Played WoW for almost 2 years now, I also play WAR when I want to PvP but am finding that about all there is to WAR, for my money EQ2 for RP and Story, WoW when you want to solo and just take it easy, and WAR for the PVP goodness.
