This is a bad move for Earthrise.

This was one of the things I hated about EvE and why I don't play it anymore. All progression should be earned ingame while active, not by logging in once a week to change skills.

Did you read this part of the FAQ?

"» How does Earthrise’s offline advancement work?
In addition to their skills and abilities gained from adventuring, battling, and crafting, characters can take a "career" that will provide them with cash and other perks. Characters will advance in their career whenever they are offline. You can think of your character's career as their "day job": It's how they make money when they aren't killing mutants or battling in the Outer Territories or experimenting with lost technology. Some of the careers in the game include Holo Artist, Electro Sampler and Zero-T operator
"

It's just a way to earn cash and "other perks"  it doesn't actually advance your character's skills or attributes.

It sounds like their version of crafting aka manufacturing in EvE. Those careers require skills and if those skills progress offline then that's bullshit. Earning income is a big part of some MMOGs like EvE and the only thing you should be able to do offline is set up a merchant or sell wares, but not advance your crafting or manufacturing careers.

There is no point of guessing right. There is way too little known yet.. If it will impact gameplay very much( i dont think so) yes it will be bad... But if it will give some extra cash then why not? It is same as selling wares offline, you have more time to sell them (ex sleeping 4-12hours) so you can put higher price on them so making more money. In my eyes excatly same....

OMG, the only thing the offline career business does is allow players to earn a little extra income when not logged into the game.

You can't advance dick skill wise through it.  All you can do is earn more "job experience" to climb up to the next income bracket of offline income earning.

Man, people need to just... not make stupid topics because they can't figure out how to find and read text on websites.

No, people read, it's just that they only read five key words then immediately decide to make judgments and criticism. And in order to confirm to themselves that they know better, they decide to make threads like this to convince people of their half-baked opinion.

Right now I was on the Aion forums, and I was reading a thread about how time cards only cost 300hrs. a month. And some of the kids there are already calling the game an epic failure because of this.

Calling it an epic failure because they won't be able to spend over 10hours a day every day for one month straight playing the game.

Gamers who use RMT are like athletes who use steroids.

This is the quote from the information faq of Earthrise:

Character progression that keeps you advancing in your career even when you’re not logged in.

My english comprehension is good and I read it as being more than making some extra income offline.

Wow..... try reading my post above, it's the second one.  It has the actual text from the FAQ on the official Earthrise website describing what the offline progression is.  Or you can go there and look yourself.

Your career is not your character's skills.

The funniest thing about this is if you pay with a credit card there is no limit.  Also the limit only applies to game cards purchased in Korea.  The Western game cards will have no such limit (I believe).

Everyone's spouting doom a gloom with false information as amunition.  Just another day at the MMORPG boards.
