"In EVE, no one gives a damn about a fair fight." - chafin

All most realists (aka trolls) really want to see is Aventurine man up and post a delay notice, with a reasonable explanation, and a predicted reschedule date.

What we don't want to hear is that the product is feature complete, bug free, and is being delayed for some esoteric reason like "market condidtions".

I have been following the progress of Darkfall only for the last six months or so.  So, I cannot say that I have been lied to, etc.   However, let us consider the realities of the marketplace before we start criticizing.  Even if the game were 100% bug-free and ready to roll, would YOU release the game now?  I certainly would not.  Why?

      1.    Wrath of the Lich-King was just released.   Of the many millions of people who purchased that expansion, I daresay none of them have finished the new content, have become bored with the game and are looking for a new MMO to entertain them.

      2.    Mines of Moria expansion to LotRO was just released.  Of the many hundred of thousands who purchased that expansion, I daresay none of them have finished the new content, have become bored with the game and are looking for a new MMO to entertain them.

      3.     WAR was recently released, and despite the protestations of some of the playerbase,  I daresay that most of the players who enjoy that game, have not yet become bored with the game and are looking for a new MMO to entertain them.

So, if you are seeking to make money off of Darkfall, would you release now, when the vast bulk of your POTENTIAL market has settled into their winter diversion?   Or, would you rather wait until (perhaps) Spring, when a greater number of the aforementioned people may be looking for a new outlet for their monthly subscription fee?

This is the way the Darkfall ends

Not with a beta but a whimper.

They did not in 2003 or in 2005 so don’t get upset if they don’t again in 2008 either.

Even AAA mmos like AoC and War have failed to shine despite having big budgets and so many talents working full speed on the development. Seriously what do ppl expect from a mmo which has been plagued by delays, development issues, broken promises..etc.

Time to wake up and move on ppl.

By what you're saying, we should just stop following MMO's altogether.

We''ve caught game developers posting vaporware rumors from work.

Lucius, Darkfall moderator

Pssh, stupid fanboys with their rose-tinted view of the game! What do you mean, we're just trolls!? We're the ones with the realistic view - that it's vaporware, will never released and Aventurine is pulling some massive scam!

Hmm... realistic, yes. Fanboys acting clinically retarded and believing any crap Tasos spouts doesn't make the exact opposite reaction - mass hysteria at Darkfall and extreme negativity - any more realistic. The opposing side of any extreme ideological viewpoint isn't rationality, it's another extreme ideological viewpoint (take any example you want - religion vs atheism, liberals vs conservatives, fanboys vs trolls). The realistic view would be that Darkfall is probably going to be late and is probably going to be pretty bad (at the very least for a short while after release) That's realistic because that's based on prior experience and example - not wishfully thinking that Darkfall is either the next messiah or some massive conspiracy theory scam that's going to give all those fanboys their come-uppance.

Stop championing your stupid conspiracy theories as though they are the 'realistic' viewpoint, they are not. They are as delusional as those of the rabid Tasos fanboys.

Where has anyone stated that Darkfall is a conspiracy? Usually people that write such things are being ironic or facetious. If they truly believe it is a scam then they have a very loose grasp on reality.

I don't think that Darkfall is a conspiracy at all, but rather a project that is headed by a developer who has bitten off more than they can chew. As a result they now find themselves in a very awkward situation.

Hi there. I had to reply to your post.. Cause.. I wasted my time reading it.

If you havent been following darkfall, like the rest of us, that's fine. It sort of makes sense.. I mean, what is there to follow? a few screen shots here and there, and a a few "videos" but that's about all.. and to reply to the rest..

1. Wrath WAS just released.. and the market share that is Darkfall doesn't overlap with the market share that is WoW.

2. Same for LOTRO

3. War.. might have managed to grab a small segment of the DF population (or would be darkfall pop).. but WAR dropped the ball by making an instanced PvP game.  Might as well as had a lobby with a chat room..

And to respond to your last statement... Well.. really no point because your prior 3 statements are all wrong.

Currently playing Real Life..

A couple of points:
<Mod edit>

Where is your marketing/polling evidence to establish that the playerbase of WAR, WoW and LotRO are not amongst the potential playerbase for this game?  You obviously have none, because you posted none.  I do not mind being called on the carpet for errors, but at least have some proof before you vent your spleen at me.
