Stand up for what you believe; Even if you stand alone.

I think the game is missing TWO factions... those being:

CRIMINAL UNDERGROUND - The criminal and more 'Shady' members of society such as bounty hunters and scoundrels.  Think 'The Exchange'.  They don't care for the most part who is winning wars, so long as they reap profits.

CORPORATE ALLIANCE - Stuff like 'the banking/trade union' who will aid both sides as well as the money is good. Think Czerka... they try to have their fingers in everything and have PLENTY of 'muscle' working for them to protect their interests and ventures as well as all the merchants / crafters.

If you think about it, those two factions would even be at odds with each other and yet need each other at the same time.

The criminals would always be ripping off the corporations while also needing them so they HAVE things to rip off.

The corporations would hate the criminal underground and compete but also sometimes require their illegal ways to get things done...

Thoughts?

If you are talking about factions that  you could join in game... i think that would be a great idea. Almost as WoW has The Scryers or The Aldor... like either side could join.

but if you are talking you start off creating your character alligned with those factions right off the bat... i dont think that would work out so well...

thats just my thoughts though

Why don't you think it would work out so well?

I look at it as, who says I want to be with the Republic OR the Sith Empire? If I feel more comfortable with the criminal element who's just out to profit, who cares who get's hurt, the option ought to be there.

Same with the 'legal' Corporates... keep in mind this isn't corporate like 'corporate America' in suits and such here, it's Star Wars. It includes everyone who wants to be a big merchant and try to take over the galaxy or those shadier folks who work in the background to ensure their companies 'win' big.

If they announced something like this and explicitly stated those two factions would get equal attention as the Jedi/Sith ones, well, this would move my current gauge of 99.9% not going to try this title to 99% going to give it a try. That's exactly the side of the Star Wars universe I would enjoy exploring.

Hmm...that really depends on how the factions actually work. We already know that you can be "evil" when you are Republic and can be "good" when on Sith side. That sort of makes me wonder how important these factions are going to be apart from the open Conflict and probably PvP elements.

If it is a sort of fluid transition between the two, a criminal underground and a corporation sort of thing could be well run by players themselves, as long as it's not "required" to actually actively help your "faction".

But I agree basically. A third faction at least, a neutral one would be very welcome.

They would have to be supported factions in the same vein as the Republic and Sith ones to be of any merit. They should have their own pros and cons just like the R/S factions and have the requirement of joining them in order to benefit from them. I don't want to be "required" to help either the Republic or Sith faction or its players. The Light side vs Dark side angle is played out for me.

I've been playing Star Wars games of all types for too long I guess. I want a new angle and this suggestion actually peaks my interest. It actually facilitates what I mean by players being able to make their own story and the game features/mechanics actually supporting that.
