I do have a personally view of what is a beta (closed or open).

Before going on it, I must say that I am an avid DF supporter. To me, its the holy grail of the MMOs, its the last hope and I am really waiting for this game.

However, I am no fool. There is NO beta test of any kind, and thats pretty clear for me. To me (TO ME) a beta test is a process mostly to feedback the game, using the chaotic handling of the game users to test the game (techinically or not). So the non-controlled factor is crucial to a beta test, otherwise is not a beta test, its olny internal test.

When Tasos came with that bullshit of few pro beta tester, last year if I am not wrong, it was the first time I sense some s* in the air. Clearly the game, then, wasnt going to have any beta test... And all the ´explanations´ of why they would be only dealing with ´professional´ beta testers was pure bullshit... The simply didnt believe in the game enough to open it.

Now, I believe that there is 10 ´beta´ testers at maximum (due to the lack of information about it), and all hand-picked), and, no, its IMPOSSIBLE to keep it in secret if tehre is more than a dozen beta-testers, EVEN if all of them were Tasos brothers, the info would leak. Therefore, in my conception, ther is no beta test going on. Only internal test.

And the things turn uglier when you have all phony marketing thing of the beta (I am talking about the quotes of the ´beta´, clearly false).

Thats my opinion, I really hoipe to be wrong...

there 100% garrentee beta is going but only about 50ish people form the forums have been invited
 i cant prove that number but doesnt matter to me

 I dont believe in 50 people not leaking any info (and in that I include the mere info of stating that someone IS in the beta) . The only people who leaked that they WAS on somekind of beta test was Tesos friends or a commercial site on Italy, and that's it. Very suspicious. I do believe in, at maximum, 10 people on this 'beta'... And hand-picked (probably all the brothers and sister, plus close friends of Tesos, or even only the dev team, plus 2 or 3 people). 

And thats the point. This thing doesnt make a beta, at least on my eyes. Beta test involves the chaos possibility, people testing, stressing the system, the game... Thats not possible on a controlled environment... This isnt a beta test at all.

Plus, if you get the 'quotes' you have the impression that the beta have tons of people tehre, which is NOT truth at all...

lol would you leak if you had to physicaly sign the nda ? and only 50 peole where in its kinda easy to pick out who the leaker is.

btw how do you think i know how many testers there is? all im going to do is sit back and smile and know your wrong

ps there is probly more than that but i couldnt get exact number.

Yes and I even would mail it back to Aventurine and Tasos saying I broke it.

Know why?  Because there's nothin they would be able to do.  NDA's are joke. And only designed to HIDE bad things.

downtoearth, please go jump into an industrial thresher face first. You're not in beta, you have to be older than 18 to enter (and I doubt you're older than 8).

Anyway, there are more than 10 beta testers (or 50, for that matter) and there have been NDA-breaking leaks. You are apparently oblivious of their existance...

Anyway, why are you so sure that the beta quotes are false? Do you have any evidence? Or is that just a random hunch?

im 23... no im not in beta never said i was. plus if i signed an nda for a gmae ive bene actulyl following im not breakign shitunlesss there lieing off their rocker

You are, then, the FIRST person to say that is on beta test... (you are on the beta test, as you put in here).

By the way 50 beta-tester do not make a beta-test. near to the launch... For where I know doesnt even make a technical beta test (the early, not the ENDING stage of a game development).

Oh, and if there is 50 people on beta, it is easy to send a dubious review of the beta any where, something like :

`The trees textures are ok, while the animation is not so good, the PvP is working well because this and that' , and NEVE, NO ONE, would discover you. And would be a good thing for the game, since would proof taht there is, indeed a beta test, FOR REAL, not with Tasos friends only...

Notice that I am not saying to beta leak info, I wouldnt, but certainly in a world of 50, SOMEONE would!!!
