I find it really amusing that 95 percent of the responders in this thread either chose to IGNORE the OP's attempt at trolling, as it was obviously intended to be a slam to World of Warcraft with the purpose of starting a flame war, OR.....they missed the analogy intent entirely. I would LIKE to think that the MMORPG population is actually very bright and just decided to be funny and reply with comments having to do with the LITERAL interpretation of the OP's post, as a way of telling him, "Piss off....we're not playing your flame game." Having said all of that........ McDonald's might not be health food, but a lot of people GENUINELY LIKE IT. OP (or any other hater that seems to think THEIR opinion is the only one that matters), who made YOU the God of Gaming? I'm just curious. For that matter....who made you the God of Hamburgers? People are individuals. They all have different likes and dislikes. The fact that they don't agree with YOU, does not make them wrong or less intelligent. It makes them true to their OWN views.

You bring up a question and a comment here. How does one know its really 'grass fed' other than reading "GRASS FED" on the label? Can you really know for sure? I know tasting probably makes a difference but by then, its too late and you've walked out with the beef. Unless you lived close to ranchers, I don't know how could be positive. Kind of like 'natural spring water' from the freshest springs. (see: tap water) The comment: All this hamburger talk makes me think.. I LOVE burgers, but did anyone ever see those pieces on how they actually transport beef from place to place? I saw one where they had a guy run a load of garbage from NY to middle america someplace, dump the crap. Then they quick wash the truck (I mean QUICK) and run get a load of beef to run back to NY. I generally eat most things without thinking, but just sometimes it makes me think of giving up meat; or at least growing my own cow. |

No, a burger that costs 5X as much at a real resturant tastes better. But for $4.50, my favorite combo meal at any fast food resturant is a Big Mac Meal. I'll drive an extra few minutes past a Wendys or BK because I like it. I don't think you can find anyone thats says any fast food is THE BEST. But for the price and time it takes to get it, its BETTER than sitting down at Outback or Chillies.

"Playing things I shouldn''t be playing since 1977." Now Playing: |
According to market economics, McDonald's does make the best hamburger. But that's because economics equate the best with the profitable; an assumption that isn't grounded upon anything proveable. Now I've talked to several McDonald's employees at the corporate level, since their HQ is near where I live (Oak Brook, IL). Something that becomes apparent as soon as you talk to a McDonald's person is that these people are very aware that McDonald's has become the poster child for all the ills of a mass society, and have worked tirelessly to change opinions about the integrity of the brand. People have argued that McDonald's is an American imposition on other cultures. McDonald's recognizes this, and tries to offer culturally-specific menu choices to counteract this criticism. McDonald's has oftentimes been the object of horror stories given to American schoolchildren: "you'd better shape up or you'll be working at McDonald's" is a stigma and a stereotype that McDonald's is fully aware of and trying to change by offering better working conditions, compensation, and opportunities for employees to advance themselves. There's the perception out there that the food is unhealthy. McDonald's is fully aware of the criticism in "Supersize Me" and is trying to offer healthier choices. They are also aware that when people think McDonald's, they think of 'assembly line' quality. They are trying to change that perception too by offering items that not just meet, but exceed expectations from 'fast food.' Take the specialty coffee, for example. I know a couple of people that worked on the coffee project, and they spared no expense in trying to bring a product to market that can stand toe to toe with the best specialty coffee in the world. The specialty coffee at McDonald's is so good, even 'food snobs' prefer 'McSpresso' instead of Starbucks. There is a lot that's wrong with multinational corporations (like SOE), and McDonald's is far from perfect. But I think McDonald's is better than most, because they listen and try to address criticisms by making McDonald's better instead of simply doing a PR blitz. They are better than Wal-Mart's 'we're big, we pwn all, so STFU and deal with it' attitude. You don't hear much "how can we make mo' money?" stuff from McDonald's people. It's all about "how can we make McDonald's better?" I wish we had that sort of attitude in MMO development, because I think it would lead to better games. |
