Well for once I have to say as that it looks liek FC is doing things right. Starting off merging just two servers gives them a chance to see if everything goes according to plan. By starting wit two of the  lower pop servers If the sewage hits the air velocity increase mechanism less psople wil be po'ed. I also think the fresh start servers are a good idea.

Now lets see if they can accomplish this without creating it being a disaster with lost toons etc. If they can that might give he game a much needed shot in the arm. then all they have to do is work on loot tables, crafting , auction houses, dyes, UI flexibility, and all the other nice things that constitute a top shelf  MMORPG.

The FAQ is out now but it says very little at all, no info on the important things like who is merging with who.

This is good news. Hopefully it has  a positive effect for those still playing.

From the FAQ:

"Can a character be transferred from one server ruleset to another (e.g. from a PvE server to a PvP server)?

Yes, that will be possible."

Uhhhhh.  Hah...?

Yes, it seems that these bad managerial decisions are the plague of Age of Conan.

I think the  main issue is that Funcom just doesn't understand what players want. They do these dumb things over and over again. 100% of playerbase have been crying for server merges for MONTHS. They clearly postponed server merges because some high level dumbass suit had a bright idea of trying to get ex-players to resubscribe in December I'm sure that decision cost Conan thousands of subs..

The formula is really simple. First ask what players want, then give it to them! Don't do some other stuff just because YOU think it's better for Aoge of Conan.

Take WoW for example. I think Blizzard is one of the few MMO companies who really understand it's players. They are giving people what people want. They have 12 million subs at the moment and that number talks for itself.

Funcom needs to be more humble. They need to admit failure and very humbly try to win players back. It would take a lot of time but if lucky, maybe in a year they could be back at 200k subs.

It seems like FC have a very clear vision for AoC. The game rolls forward with increasing momentum. Love to get more new blood on my server.

Kudos to Funcom for opening new servers along with the merges. I expect the fresh realms will be quite popular.

I do also like this. I will roll an Alt on the fresh servers for sure. When the server is new it is much easier for a new guild to establish itself.
