Something always goes wrong, people bitch about anything, read the forums here much? My point being, he wont be able to handle it in a professional manner.

Cracks me up when he calls the skeptics trolls. They have let no one see the game, have not shown it at any shows or let anyone play it besides internal testers and he wonders why people are a bit skeptical about the game's existence? He really can't be that naive can he? As to marketing, again, completely clueless how to market a game these days. All they had to do was show it at a few shows and let some journalists test play it. Would have marketed itself. Instead we have this deep secrecy. I think the guy is afraid someone other than his internal team might play it. Mark Tasos and Adventurine completely lost in this regard. I hope they have great success with Darkfall, the genre needs some new blood to inject some life into the industry. Too many clone makers out there crowding out the originality that once was common in this industry. My only question is, with this very limited testing they are doing, how does he know that the server software will support a large number active players? There is no way to simulate such except live testing and I don't see them doing much with this before release. |

See, bots and AI cant cause the same stress for multiple reasons. #1 they were programed by the same people who programed the game. #2 Computers are only as good as they were programed #3 Players do things programers never intended them to do or try, that pretty much breaks 2 and 1 #4 Players use third party apps to try and break the game and cheat...AI doesnt do that. #5 Most importantly, Players connect from outside the building, from different regions, states, etc. AI connects internally. Its not going to stress test the network infrastructure. #6 Players use different pcs, millions and millions of different systems, AI doesnt test that.
Thats just a few rather simple issues I can come up with that AI cant solve.... and those issues alone could cause MASSIVE problems. I agree with everything you said my friend. The guy has no clue what he's talking about. But you minds well be talking to a fly, which is about the same mentality as the DF fanboys. |

This is the way the Darkfall ends Not with a beta but a whimper. |

I agree great job MMORPG, you got him nailed down to announcing an official release date “in a few days”, exactly what many of us wanted. If this date is not within the year then they have delayed again, and this was just more of the usual BS we have been getting for years. But if this date is still within the year things will get a lot more interesting. |

Now that there is new information coming out and thing seem to be rolling in terms of the information the media is going to get, we are bringing more of it to you. And just a point of fact: I don't have anything to do with the moderation here. I run content on the site. The moderators have recieved no new instructions regarding Darkfall or any other game. If you have a problem with our moderation, AS ALWAYS, I would suggest that you contact our community manager at community@mmorpg.com.
LOL, Stradden - I can't remember the last time I saw you have to babysit a thread like this. Now, imagine how much time you will have to spend in the Darkfall forum after the game actually launches! |

Some people said that Tasos came off egotistical... I think it was more like confident. Most of the questions were very straight forward and deserved the answer they got. I mean when a 'reporter' says 'alot of people think blah blah, ' its usually a veiled attack, almost forcing a defensive statement. With how low people's expections are now for MMO launches, we forget how good they can be too. Anyone ever had a crash in guild wars... EVER? Hell, i get DC'ed from GW and i can reconnect and be right where i was standing. NO other major game does that, let alone MMO. Hopefully this is the kind of quality they are aiming for, Tasos sure makes it sound like it. Not just 'able' to handle the launch, not just launch with a minimum of issues. But thay want to have the stress test/larger beta go just as well. Tasos makes it sound like they actually understand that A LOT of people's opnions of the game are formed during beta. A lot of companies don't understand that. People also feel like they have know better than the creators/publishers on how to market the game. A lot of people are also idiots. Assuming what Tasos said is true, they are handling things great. But Mythic also said Warhammer was ready for launch a month before the game came out. They are only now fixing BASIC ui problems, among 1000 other things they fixed after launch (3-4 months after "it's ready for launch now if we wanted") A lot of people are jaded by game's being touted as the best game since sliced bread (MMO and other).... when they are worth less than the Burger King games. |
