The only game I know of that has "intelligent quests" is Dungeons&Dragons Online. But I don't think it is the questing that draws people to Aion. The RvR-style PvP, the beautiful graphics, the flying and such things are what is interesting about this game |

Aion does offer a couple of different features that have not been offered...by Blizzard at least. I think some of the people that post on here and are negative, were buying into the hype of Aion thinking that it would be radically different from the thousands of other MMO's out already. It is not. There are things that seperate it from some others but it is what it is. It is a AAA MMO that combines features from games already out and combines them into a polished experience. Really what it comes down to is personal taste. Do you like familiar game mechanics and a polished aesthetic with a slight eastern flair? Then you will probably like Aion. Are you looking for a fresh take on the stale genre of MMO's? Something different? Then you will probably not like Aion. Just comes down to personal taste. Going back and forth over if it is good or not is pointless. If you like it? cool. If you do not like it? cool. |

Think I got to level 14 on the WoW trial, and felt exactly the same.. utterly boring, except I loathed the graphics! Aion is boring up to a certain level as well, except the graphics are sublime, enchanting and yes... unique. As with any top class MMO, usually the fun starts at level cap, I think it starts a bit earlier than that with Aion, but its still "end game" |

Wow has over 10 million players. It's not really strange that you run across idiots and kids. Believe me, wow has some of the most mature MMO players in the world. |

You people are just going to have to realize some folks are going to find Aion boring because it offers nothing new and different. If you like it, play it. But don't try to hammer your way of thinking into everyone else's head just because you love Aion. You =/= everyone. And they have as much a right to come here and say "Yeah I think this game is crap" as you do to say "OMG BEST GAME EVAR!". Considering you are making your judgements on the same grounds they are, and then saying "well you can't rightly say anything because you've only gotten to level blah-blah in beta" ?
Wow. Glass house anyone? Kettle calling pot black?
Don't worry. There will be enough Aion fans for you to hang out with in the game and fly around with and fanboi with. If half the MMO population finds this game boring, just chill out. No game out there is ever going to cater to 100% of the market. Even WoW apparently only gets about 60% of the market. Your precious game will be just fine, I assure you.

Since we comparing this to WoW a lot... Only at level 11 so far... In terms of gameplay so far can be best described as hybrid between Lineage 2 and WoW. There really isn't anything new apart from the flying. First levels felt like I am actually playing a new race in WoW. You level with combination of quest and mob/gathering XP. After level 10 you also gain XP also from crafting. This is done by moving between quests hubs that are extremely linear. Up to level 10, I think the expererience in Aion was a bit more solid than in WoW, but difference was not huge. I think cutscenes made the difference, but perhaps they should have added voice acting for those scenes? In terms of longevity, It is good to remember that WoW does now have 8 different starting areas making the first 1-25 levels somewhat more varied experience for those who like alts or are not sure their first class choice was really the one they were looking for. Getting wings at level 10 is similar to getting your first mount in WoW originally. Flying is pretty nicely done in this game. There are some annoyances with flying as you can hit invisibles walls which block you. So it is not as freeform flying as with flying mounts in WoW. Crafting so far has been pretty horrible experience. I never did like crafting in WoW, but in this game it seems to be even more tedius, but perhaps little bit more rewarding at the end? Regardless, it was extremely boring to do. Playing a ranger at the moment and I have to say that this is more difficult game at level 11 than WoW ever was at level 11. Perhaps it is different for other classes? My main concern with this game at the moment is the depth. It seems to be even more shallow than WoW. There seems to be no talent system or any other innovative way to differentiate your class from others. It seems you only get to be somewhat different is through items and their sockets.

You really think they will have it in testing for over 10 weeks? And do you honestly think Blizzard plans their patch releases around other games? And you may have thought WOTLK was garbage but millions of WOW players don't. |

And yes they patch around other games otherwise they didnt have those funky numbers you all seem to like so much. Also, Blizzard patches on the same 3-4 months window and has since launch. As a matter of fact, looking towards the next expansion, I went back and looked and they did average 3-4 months per patch. If the patch was larger, sometimes longer. Overall though, they patch on their schedule. EDIT: And Aion will have a lot more competition than a WOW patch. It launches the same day as Champion's Online as well as 2-3 other games that are coming in August and September (supposedly). Not AAA MMO's, but still ones a lot of people are looking forward too. |

Hey, asshat. He wasn't passing judgement on the "entire" game. He asked where the hook is. What is it that should get him attached to playing this game? The first 10-15 levels of any MMO are supposed to "hook" you into playing the game, and cause you to want to play more. He believes this hook was missing and is asking if anyone else had experienced the same. You fail. Maligar Kelison |

Unlike alot of people i dont care if Aion gets competion Competition keeps u alive The MMO marked would have been so much better if not just WoW but 5 to 10 other would have passed the 2 million mark Honestly if Blizzard come up with an empty DvD for the next expansion millions would buy it Im not bothered playing a game with 10k or 100k subs as long the server im on is healthy i can team up and have fun then i found what i was looking for. |

Exactly my point. I've been playing quite a bit since my OP....yet it is still more soul-curshing PVE. And I'm still waiting for the hook. I've been told you can PVP at 25 - so is PVEing to 25 the only option? |

Getting to a specific level to see content is no surprise in the MMO genre. |

Ok, so this thread really went after the fact that this guy judged it after 6 levels, which is understandable. In all honesty though, through level 20 the quests are basically exactly as he described. |

Im sure they are busy now figuring out which Aion features to implement in their next xpac. Dont be surprised to see dwarves sprouting wings in the future. |
