With the release of LoTRO, VSoH will take a big hit. The games are both very similar to the WoW cookie cutter MMOs. Both very impressive graphics a lot of the same features. VSoH is going to have to do something special to recover from the blow it takes from LoTRO. I've played both, and both seem like the exact same game to me. If I had to choose I think I'd go with LoTRO because it runs more smooth and I believe is cheaper per month. However, they are very similar. Hey, just my opinion....what do you think? Bring on the flames! |

Originally posted by Stellos I dont like Vanguard as well, but LoTRO will certainly not make Vanguard take a plunge faster. While LoTRO is 1000 times more stable than Vanguard, LoTRO is certainly nothing to scream home about. Just another cookie cutter fantasy MMO with nothing new to offer.

Public forums. You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy. We must be cautious. |
I think LotRO is going to pull a number of subscribers from accross the board. I can't tell you how many people i know that are obsessed with that game.. even those who are MMO-addicts like myself.
I played Closed and a bit of open beta for Lord of the Rings Online. Its not a bad game, and good for using up some time during your boredome sessions but its not as grand as some people are proclaiming it to be. I think alot of people see the title and not the game. LOTR hit huge in theaters and in novel. Made TONS of cash and can well support a game franchise of course! But again. Its missing something. Now, Vanguard has some issues i won't denie that and i don't think anyone else here will either. Its got some problems that need to be addressed and a bit of tweakage/addage to the system to make it shine in the sunlight, but i don't think it'll take TOO much of a blow from Ring's launch. |

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I personally thought LoTRO was a complete snorefest and could care less who goes to play it. Well thats not really true. I would really care if you went and played it right now and stop posting in the Vanguard forums. Now I know you have a right to post where you want but I would REALLY like it if you would just leave and not post here. Jjust my opinion |

Turbine said there are more then 600,000 open characters ready for live servers. In order to bring your open beta characters to live server you have to pre order so there.

Why troll on a VG board about how Lotro will take subs when it will apply to all games ? There is vast diferences with these 2 games so comparing them is totally nonsense. Lotro is a fun "waste 30min game", but it will not draw me from more meaningfull mmorpgs. If anything Lotro will hit the kiddie games harder... basicly go dump some stupid hate elsewhere please.

WTF is a pocket monster?!? Think about it for a while. |
I don't know about that as LOTRO is boring to me as someone said already. When you compare both games i believe Vanguard (performance aside) is superior to LOTRO.

Oh come on, saying that VG and LotRO are completely different games is absurd, they are essentially the same thing. You level by questing and killing monsters, you gain levels, you get stronger, you go to different areas suited to your level. You craft in both games, crafting is a bit different in VG, you have to click more buttons, some people like that, some don't. Diplomacy could be considered a gimmick, just like music playing, except music playing is way more fun but doesn't do anything for you in the game like earn you rewards. VG has housing in now, but lots of bugs, LotRO is adding housing after release, but is already quite polished. They both require time to do things, VG's level climb is in my opinion not hard at all and proberly just a little steeper than LotRO. I fail to see any major differences between these games, they are both essentially mmorpgs based on EQ/WoW. On topic VSoH already got hurt after many people who bought the game have un-subscribed and it's hard for them to get rid of the bitter taste in their mouths. |

When the well runs dry, we''ll know the value of water. |
Wow.
I currently play LotR and I played Vanguard for Beta and two months afterward. Honestly, they are night and day different games. LotR is probably going to pull me from Everquest. I have canceled my EQ account and seriously thinking about subscribing to LotR or just waiting for WAR. Good points made by everyone. Edit: I would like to try Vanguard out for a bit as well, thinking about resubbing if the game is significantly improved to hold me over until the release of WAR (possibly AoC as well). |
