I think your logic is a bit scewed though. More and more Mmorpgs are coming out every year, MMorpg.com is a testiment to that.  In most economic models, including 1 for a MMo,  more competition = lower prices.

I agree that AoC looks fantastic, but so do a few other upcomming games.  Around the time of release of AoC we could have other highly anticipated MMos due out, like Warhammer or Pobts or several others. Imagin what it would do to AoC if they were at $20 and the others were at $15. People would be more apt to try out the less expensive game 1st and AoC would lose the opportunaity to get them hooked 1st.

I also look at demographics.  The 1st demographic to get weeded out with a raise in prices would be the younger demographics. Being an adult, I wouldnt mind this at all. I would love it in fact. But, most companies rely heavily on younger kids, despite whatever the game may be rated. If they didnt depend heavily on kids, they wouldnt always be releasing games just b4 Christmas or just after school gets out, by FAR the 2 most popular times to release games.

Competition? Crap vs crap .....the market is over saturated if anything.
Remember guys, it's  still less than a buck a day. And Sinkael im sorry about misquoting you but we want good games, better games,we have to be willing to pay for them.
Let's send that message and be ok with this.

It''s one thing to have a opinion, but enforcing one is unconstitutional.

im not trying to argue with you guys,i was just making a suggestion and hopefully,
IF Funcom decides to charge 19.95 a month
by that time you should be okay with it.
Cause it will be well worth it just like you said.

either way it goes let the mmo world charge me 19.95 a month. (can you say canceled supscriptions)  thats 239.40 cents i can use on games that dont have a subscription fee. Internet 50dollars then this 20 dollars 70 dollars a month to play this game HA it will never see my 50dollars when it comes availible. Im still angry that they changed EQ, AC from 9.95 to 12.95 then to 14.95.. There gettin ridiculous with these games charging so much money to maintain somthing that doesnt cost a 1/4 of what we pay. Each mmo good or bad has a base close to 20k players. And that at 14.95 is equal to 299,000 then that times a 12months is 3.588 million. You can not tell me it costs that much money to maintain servers and the few personal u keep on board and thats if the game only has 20k players. WoW has 8million so they make BILLIONS each year now. So i say F a dang monthly fee increase it needs to be decreased. So you stay eating your snickers and leave everyone else out of your fantasy to pay more

Go home, nobody loves you.

After re-reading the original posters comments, I have come to the conclusion that he is a troll and is trying to stir up some trouble and flames. He has played all the proper cards and failed to get the response he desired, he has failed as a troll.

I reluctantly have to agree with the OP on this one.
Reluctantly because I also would not pay more than $15/month to play an online game.
But the truth is they have stated they are targeting this game to an mature (adult) population.
In addition to the sexuality and violence, blood, etc.
Therefore, mature may mean higher monthly fees too.

I love RPG''s! And Girls!

19.95 is frickin rediculous!  I don't care what the game is, that's too much.  I'm gonna laugh my ass off when people start playing AoC paying 20 bucks and then realizing that it sucks.  I'm not saying it will suck, but all these other "awesome" MMO's that came out, ended up sucking.

So...if AoC really will be 20 bucks a month, count me out.  There are other just as good games coming out, that will be cheaper.

A premium game.
Age of Conan will be the Lexus,BMW, the Cadilac of mmorpgs. All other mmorpgs will have to bow down and future mmorpgs will only hope to obtain the same quality.
A premium game with a premium subscription.

Yes ,someone here really gets it. i am glad.
A mature game for mature players would only naturally cost a tiny bit more per month.

if you can't afford a Premium/Mature game....like has been mentioned already -
there's plenty of crappy games that cost less per month and/or are free.

So rendering tits or some red blood equates to 5 more dollars a month? That's not mature
