I am now running for CEO of SOE!
Have Smed canned & Petition Kaz today for me to run SOE!

As I stated in my second Rodo Report, I, Jestor Rodo, am willing to do my Dragon Con Rodo Report without any Makeup or mask. This would occur if by the end of August if Sony On Line Entertainment was not announce a sundown date for Star Wars Galaxies. The reasoning of why I think that this will happen –

1. The Free Fall of Customers from the game since the Combat Upgrade and the New Game Edition from about 300k to 50k. (From my sources – I estimate about 20k)

2. Low Server levels visa vie from the low number of players – I would like to use my Veteran trial to try the NGE again but since my home server, Kauri it’s the least populated server with players transferring to more populated servers. Server mergers
Would be the wise course of action but SOE refuses to make such an effort. The effort would be futile if the game would be shut down in the near future.

3. The nonexistence availability of the game. You cannot buy a copy of the game anywhere- only as a Digital download from SOE. They give away the game in the trial and then if you want the two expansions you can pay $30.00 to once again download from SOE as well. It will make it a lot easier I guess not to have a bunch of retail copies on the shelf for sale after the servers are shut down but there is not going to be any impulse purchases of the game. Considering its current condition, that may be a good thing.

4. The announcement or widely believed rumors of new Star War MMOs. Lucas Arts, the owners of the Star Wars franchise has witnessed a 300k users level and they would like to see a Star Wars MMO achieve and exceed that level in the future. Its not going to be the NGE of SWG. In fact, its said that Lucas Arts has forgiven SOE of a 1 million dollar annual royalty for the franchise rights for the past two years . It’s a good because with the estimated users, 1 million may be the annual profit for the game. It’s a sure thing that a replacement for SWG is in the works.

5. The recent change in parent companies for SOE. For years SOE parent company has been Sony Picture Entertainment, moviemakers not computer gamers. Just recently SOE now answers to its new Sony Computer Entertainment America. As I have mentioned in my recent Rodo Report, Its going to be a tough sell to explain the current existence and the amount of resources that are being wasted on the low to no profit NGE.

6. Star War Galaxies dismissal of Prez , a respected coordinator of Player events which too will now will cease to exist. It Seems that SOE will not support the in game players with events , so why should you support a game that is about to end?

1. The Free Fall of Customers from the game since the Combat Upgrade and the New Game Edition from about 300k to 50k. (From my sources – I estimate about 20k) even with your  estimate would be around 3.5 mil a year??, not bad for a dying game

Agree on server merge, but due to our experiance we all know that that is very hard to accomplisch, especialy with a game like SWG, sure PotBS has done so but then that game wasn't out for such a long time as SWG is, but i do wish for those who play or plan to play that SOE somehow would figure out how to make it happen regardless......

This was widly anounced last year by Lucasart that they will be selling digital copy's only, which in my view isn't that bad as i know many people these day's don't really want to buy a box, but want it fast and digital is the fastest way to get a game these day's. And for a game going 5 years i don't think many would buy a box copy even if it was in a store. Lets not forget that SOE actualy did a very poor job with advertising the game to begin with from release. In this case WOW was a better succes with it's marketing cause when the game was released you could not escape seeing WOW somewhere in a store/streets/tv/adds on internet.

4. The announcement or widely believed rumors of new Star War MMOs. Lucas Arts, the owners of the Star Wars franchise has witnessed a 300k users level and they would like to see a Star Wars MMO achieve and exceed that level in the future. It’s a good because with the estimated users, 1 million may be the annual profit for the game. It’s a sure thing that a replacement for SWG is in the works. Not sure about it being in the works, but i'm sure one day we might see another SW MMO, for me and i do hope it will take a few years cause the tech availeble for mmo in my opinion is still very limited, and hope they start making a SW MMO when tech is at the lvl we see it in singleplayer games, and overall like i said in other topics, tech with MMO's look as if they behind 2/3 years from how tech is used in singleplayer games.

I don't feel that SCEA really would focus on a old game, like with most company transfers the old most likely will be left alone or lets at those who already work on it and most likely SCEA will focus on what SOE is boiling now with their 3 new games coming soon.

6. Star War Galaxies dismissal of Prez , a respected coordinator of Player events which too will now will cease to exist. It Seems that SOE will not support the in game players with events , so why should you support a game that is about to end? No i aint playing current game but even when i was playing we made our own events, i do not recall visiting any event SOE made, perhaps a few like certain ones on Corolag, overall we made our own events, and with us plenty of other guilds did so to, and as far i know we never needed coordinator for support, this was in the pre-cu era, don't know about the current as when i did play last year for 8 months i didn't do events nor did i look for them. So it might be that current players either don't really care to create their own story/event, or they simply don't need a coordinator, anyhow shame he left regardles what he did in SWG
.

Please allow me to translate.  The CU/NGE sucks. I don't like the CU/NGE.  Everyone at SOE (Even if they had nothing to do with the NGE) should all drown in a warm bucket of hamster vomit.

By the way, 0/ jestor.  Missed ya home slice.

-Currently Looking forward to SGW and Fallen Earth. If they suck then I give up...

I''m not SUPERstitious,but I''m a little stitious

Pex was NOT dismissed! He will become the Community Manager for Free Realms.

Not that makes anything better for SWG, just correcting an error. You would think that SOE could find a bored intern or somebody to take Pex's place. But proof of SWG demise? Don't know. IMHO I think SOE/LA's hubris is the only thing that's keeping it afloat.

Three months is not that far away Jestor. Though I would like to see what you look like under that mask! My Vet trial is up at the end of the month, I MIGHT actually resub for the first time in 3 years.

Revenue does not equal profit.  3.5 million a year is horrible for a Star Wars MMO.  Remember, the entire reason the NGE was implemented was because $36 million a year in revenue (just using 200K subscribers as a discussion point) was not viable based on SWG being a Star Wars game (according to the Smed himself on the OBoard).

    1. - Are you paying $15.00 per month? SOE loves you!   Even with a skeleton staff of Devs , Mods and other related support for this game , the walk away profit is only about 1 Million per year and as I mentioned later that is the same amount as the forgiven royalities no longer paid by SOE to Lucas Arts.

2- We agree , a server merge is needed but unlike the Nomadic non franchised PotBS. THE NGE of SWG is a tougher trick worth undertaking if the plan was to continue the game . I submit that it will not SO(E) a server merge which is sorely needed  and despite the housing issues ( which I am sure is a Server merger FUBAR just waiting to happen) and would pay for its self in 6 month period will not occur.

3- We have come along way iin the passed 5 years be even SOE denouces the existence of retail copies of SWG -  http://www.station.sony.com/sonyonline/retailassets/  -  All of the other SOE titles are recgonized -SWG -NGE poof.

4- Yes a second item we can agree on , Single player as opposed to MMOs but Single player wondeful as it to taked advantage of the tech without the issue of an IP connection by this too limits the interaction as well . That is why the host site for MMOs exist . It meet the needs and allows the players to communicate on the same media that they play on. the Internet itself - God Bless you, Al Gore!

5- You may be right . SCEA may not care or realize that  there is nothing that they can do about the NGE due to LA involvement. Another reason why that their may be on a limited staff to see thru the final day of this abomination of an MMO.

6- You and I currently do not play the game but  I submit that taking away the in player events is like taking away a pep rally for your High School football team. No School spirit = No Game spirit = Dying game = Shovels , Lets start digging,
