Patience is a virtue, reason a necessity

Hey Everyone,

I have played EQ since launch and it holds the place as my favorite MMO of all time.  For those of you who have played EQ2 and EQ can you guys tell me which one is better?  I mean I have the 60 days so I might as well play both but just curious because if 1 is better then the other I can better invest my time.  Pros and Cons please?

As a person who is also returning from a long hiatus this may be a tough call. I'm playing EQ mainly to run around and re-explore Norrath, but I think I may turn more of my attention to EQII. I'm curious to see what changes have been made with EQII. I'm under the impression that you are more likely to enjoy EQ 'if' you're in a guild or can find groups.

I wouldn't expect there to be a lot of 'solo' type content for those of us returning to EQ, at least not a lot of solo stuff in newer areas, as most of those areas are high-end. With EQII from what I understand you have better solo possibilities. That being said you may not even be much of a soloer.

I've been in touch with some Online friends who are returning so I may be able to do some grouping. I'm an old school Druid (level 68) who use to solo often, but I've not tried anything with the newer expansion so I'm not sure how 'safe' it is to solo.

I have a few Chars in EQII, I don't even recall what level they are, LOL. I think my Durid there is in his 20's.

going "back" to EQ1 simply because I never really got that far into it, I played EQ2 and I don't see much reason to go back.

If you have not played EQ2 much let me just say this, It really is not a sequel to Everquest imo, just some shared lore. If EQ1 was really your favorite I think you would probably enjoy the nostalgia over EQ2's newer graphics and faster combat style (unless thats your cake).

Yeah, I have tried EQ2 in the island and I thought it was ok.  I was not a big fan of the way they went with the combat and or the playstyle. But in all honesty I never gave it a fair chance either, cause I usually dont invest time in the trials, because 14 days to play an MMO = useless.  Now if they gave me a month free I can see that being more usefull imo anyway. My highest character ever was a 60 shaman that I had deleted by accident way back when Kunark was released lol so my next highest was a 52-54 iksae monk LOL.  I think I am going to start needed a PL lol because soloing as anything unless your completely geared in that game is not happening.  Acctually thats one of the things I loved about eq, it was very very hard to find someone that had the exact same gear as you because of the rare spawns and that only one person could camp the mob at a time and some of the timers were like 8 hours.  Anyway, I think ill take a stab at EQ 1 and see how that works, thanks for the input.
