Cry Havoc, and let slip the trolls of war! |
Well, today I went into town to do some shopping. I took my copy of AoC along and decided to pop into my local CAB office (http://www.citizensadvice.org.uk/). I talked to a guy named Clive and stated i'd bought the game on the assumption the advertising on the box and in-store was correct. I told him when I got to play the game the advertising was in fact false. The CAB office had already had complaints about the game! He advised me to take it back to the store and get a refund. I took my copy of AoC back to the store and got a full refund with no problems (they dont usually refund online games). So, if you aren't happy with AoC and live in the UK, visit a CAB office and get a refund from where you bought the game. |

Hah, nice one mate. More of this would certainly show companies that they cannot release unfinished games without key content. Though with all people around here and at the official forums going "I have faith in Funcom to deliver" (really boggles me where that faith would have sprung from) while they keep paying up, perhaps not. |

Their faith is sadly misplaced... Funcom is like the goverment, as long as they keep getting money, they have no real incentive to "do whats right." Take away their power (ie money), and they will suddenly wake up and smell the roses. "Oh I guess the players really werent happy with the slop we produced..."
I wish we could take back mmos to game stores in the US. Ive got 4 Id love to have my money back from. >.> |

Guess we are lucky here in the UK. I've been able to return a lot of games. The stores here are pretty good about it. Helps having the CAB as back-up though. Why I usually goto the actual store for MMORPG's, for offline single-player games I order them online. |

You can take back video games in the U.S. The stores just try to make it a real pain in the ass but if you get the BBB involved they sure change their tune. Hell, I even got a refund from a movie theatre because I thought a movie sucked and sat 3/4 of the way through it. We are pretty well safeguarded in the states if you get the proper people involved. Like I said though most stores and businesses try to make it a big hassle. |
