you're right, we shouldn't. having bought crappy MMOs in the past, IS the reason to not continue to do so moving forward. repeating a mistake time and again is a sign of stupidity and/or (the unwanted/uncool kind of) insanity. $50 and broken promises is pretty much reason to start a revolution in most countries. i'm tolerant of *things* of which i should be tolerant. a game that has spent tens of millions of dollars and 5-10 years to develop PLUS untold thousands of FREE (did not have to pay money to) beta testers (multiplied by the hours those testers played)... that is not something of which i am tolerant. they have THOUSANDS of beta testers on during the beta testing period, so that they CAN simulate how the game will be when lots of people are playing -- i'm sorry, apologists can heehaw all they want about "oh you don't know"; but i do know those aforementioned items and after thinking about those items... i'll play older games until the newer ones are WORTH playing. to do otherwise is foolish, possibly childish, as in a child that can't wait to get something new and has to have it now now now now, even if once they get it, they're all sad, cuz it's only half-finished and not working correctly. the problem is that so many MMOs get released and they're craptastic, that consumers are like, "surely this company learned from all the previous companies' mistakes and THEIR release will be GREAT, and the game won't have bugs and will have everything they promised, etc etc et cetera." well, the game companies AREN'T learning, not as long as people will buy 700,000 boxes of a broken game - they have no REASON to release games in an acceptable/excellent state. |
