There is nothing bad about being a WoW clone. WoW's success means that "WoW rippoff" can be a very viable design decision for an MMORPG that will bring lots of cash to the company and lots of fun to the players. And WAR is definitely the best contender in the "WoW ripoff" race.

It's not a "WoW clone". People act like every new MMORPG with elves and dwarfs has to be copying WoW. WAR is going to be PvP - based and has RvR very little PvE. That's the opposite of WoW. |

WoW felt like EQ to me. I don't see how you think WAR is closer to WoW than WoW was to EQ. If anything WAR is a DAoC clone. |

"Core systems" sounds like we are talking about a spaceship or a nuclear reactor. It is much simpler than that. The rendering looks like wow, the GUI looks like wow, the turn-based combat feels like wow, the art direction is similar to wow. And the "core systems" are the same. Level based progression. Questing. Node based resource gathering. Instanced PvP. Of course it has some differences, maybe PvP is a bit more interesting, maybe the crafting is recipe-less, but still it looks and feels like a slightly detuned WoW. I see a great potential in it though. They just need to do it like WoW, and add some salt and pepper from their experience with DAOC. It will be great.

Whats cool about it is they are saying "this is a DAoC clone" and are proud of it. They made DAoC, they liked how it turned out and want to make WAR like it but better.
and i give this troll a 4/5 for doing a decent job of pretending he isn't an AoC fanboy, but the whole WoW clone thing is STILL old. |

Like someone else once said, there are only two ways in which WoW and WAR are similar. Both are MMORPGs and both are based off of Warhammer Lore. |
