I tried LotRO a few months back and wasn't blown away. While I didn't find it bad, I didn't find it too exilerating. Also, I didn't really like the look of the areas the elves started out in.

I think the main issue, though, was my choice of class. I went with Minstrel, wanting something different. I think that was the wrong choice though. I'm more of an offensive caster, but am open to melee.

So, which should I pick? Also, which race would be best? I love lots of green and rolling hills, so starting out in a beautiful area would be the cherry on the cake!

If you love green and rolling hills then you will LOVE the Shire (even if questing there can be frustrating)... did you know that you can fast travel between the starter zone (once you are finsied with the noob instance) for 1 silver? so you can choose a race but quest in the other starter zones if you like...

Maybe you should try the Loremaster class, its pretty different to play and are very desired in all aspects of the game (gets better dps in thir 30s so can be abit slow untill then)

Or wait untill the expansion and check out thoose new classes if none of the current fit you!

Oh? That's cool. How does one fast travel and which races start in the Shire?

Thanks for the suggestion, I think I'll go with Loremaster as it suits my playstyle well.

Talk to a stable master and he will throw you on a horse to the place you want :)

Only hobbits start in the Shire and they can only be: Guardian, Minstrel, burglar, hunter... The reason I said queting their is because there is alot of non-fighting quests in the Shire.. not many monsters there but a lot of hungry hoobbits who whants to eat pie :D

Elf or Human if you want to play as Loremaster!

Be warned Loremaster is a slow starter class.  They take a lot of patience to play at low levels.  By about level 35 you'll be a screaming badass, but you slowly ramp up to that starting at level one.

Also, since this is your first character Explorer is a good starting profession.  You will be able to make yourself some nice armor, and you'll make giant piles of cash selling ore.

Good luck, hope you are able to get into it this time :-)

I don't want to write this, and you don't want to read it. But now it's too late for both of us.
