F2P MMORPGs made me go back to P2P MMORPGs. |
[I apologize before hand if this topic was already made, I just looked at the first few pages and saw nothing in relation] It's coming out for the PS3 and PC, developed or published by Sony CE. It's been announced for a while now and it's gonna be in the upcoming E3. I think the idea of creating your own DC superhero would be fun, I've been ache'ing for a Marvel or DC MMORPG for years and years. If only there was a Marvel vs DC Online MMORPG :D

I will probably eventually pick it up since you can add all titles to the All Access Pass. Other than the Alan Moore Swamp Thing when I was a teen in the 80s, Marvel has always been my favorite franchise. Would be cool if SOE could run both DC and Marvel. Think I would unretire from MMOs for that. |

It is being developed by SOE, and they've churned through three entire dev teams already. According to Linkedln, both Helios (Kai Steinmann), who was promoted from SWG lead designer to DCUO's lead designer is now unemployed, and Rogue_5 (Grant McDaniel), the former SWG executive producer at SOE, who was promoted to being the executive producer for DCUO, is now at Virgi Games. The word has been that development of the game is being directed by SOE's management, since they want the game to be their new flagship title. This has resulted in a ton of departures from the DCUO development team. If the game ever makes it to release, it is going to be a huge mess.

After all, Warner Bros. doesn't care how much their comic book IPs are mangled, as long as the checks clear. Look at the approved versions of Superman Returns that were in production prior to the abysmall version that was released. The version that made it into theaters was bad, but compared to the other approved versions, which fell apart for one reason or another, it is genius.
