SCIENCE PROVES CAPS LOCK CAN CURE CANCER. |
Just a simple question; are companies aloud to literally put anything on their boxes, whether or not they are in the actual product? If so I'm going to become a billionaire. All I need is Photoshop and an EBgames willing to sell my shi---, I uhhh mean awesome products. If you haven't noticed I'm starting to grow quite cynical of this game quite fast.... in all honesty, it isn't the game; it is more or less the company running this game. The game is decent as is, but nothing that it was made up to be. Am I the only one who is sick and tired of being treated like a dumb piece of meat when it comes to buying entertainment products... in this case AoC, but that is a completely different subject. Honestly... in the beginning of my posting days I was planning on getting this game day 1... then it went to wait a month... and now I will make sure to never purchase a product created by FC in my life. You guys should realize that I was a good hopeful of this game like many others on these forums, even more so than probably many of them. I actually almost went out of my way to buy a completely new computer for this (thank God I stuck out of that and decided to wait unlike others). Please... just how the hell are they aloud to deliberately lie like they are doing? Aren't there laws against this? Was AO really that successful to give them enough money to bribe the entire f ' ing entertainment industry? How has nobody been able to figure this out before launch to warn people of buying this...? As you can tell I am a little disgruntled... I will further my thoughts and elaborate further a little bit later. Just answer my current questions if possible. |

There are laws against it and technically companies can't put just anything on the box. Good luck doing anything about it though. Most people seem to think that it's silly starting a class action lawsuit against video game companies. I mean no one ever sues cell phone service providers and utility providers, right? |

I'm a little confused about what your question is, Are you asking if there is a legal road you could take against them ? If so , I guess technically you could say they false advertised their product . However I'm not quite sure you would win the case . I guess you have about as much chance to win a suit against FC , As you would pepsi . If you felt their Drinks didn't taste as good as they advertised or just about anyone else who advertised their product as being better than it actually was. What product advertised is as good as the adds say ? Not many IMO. |

slightly different than that. Pepsi says it is good, thats an opinion, you can't do much about that.
If Pepsi said "Contains no Peanuts" and it in fact had peanuts in it, you could do something about that, there is no opinion in there, just fact.
If AoC said "this is the most fun game ever" and it sucked, you can't do much about that. If AoC said "this game has massive sieges" and it didn't have sieges, there is something you can go after. The problem here is, AoC isn't exactly lacking the content they promised, they simply have broken content. like when they said "sieges are working... you just can't get to them because tier 3 cities aren't in game yet".
When they make a very important claim like "game has PvP" and they don't let you attack other people at all... thats something you could safely go after and maybe start a class action suit in order to get everyone their money back. but unless its something solid that they can't get around... MMOs just change too fast to go through legal actions that tend to be pretty slow. |
