ok so i will give you a little background on myself. i purchased LOTRO back when it was released and had a blast. got my dwarf guardian to lvl 21 before my time ran out and never bothered to re-sub (i think i had found another game or MMO to follow. cant really remember). now i have played a lot of MMO's and one aspect that i enjoy is when i can craft and sell to an NPC for profit. yes i know there is an AH but i hate it to death. i think its a stupid system and there is no guarantee that you will make any money off of it. another thing that frustrates me is the time it takes for stuff to sell on the AH. many times (in previous games) i have used it only to get half the stuff back in the mail a day later. i have a lot of fun finding a way to easily craft items and sell to NPC's for profit. i did it in most of the games i have played and the fun part is crunching the numbers to figure out what is profitable and what is not. an example is PoTBS beta i went to EVERY port on the seas and recorded how much i would get for "trading" items in (trade 1 item for some cash and/or another item) once i had recorded all of that i worked out how much it would cost to produce these items...the rewards i was given were the same as what it cost to produce.
now i dont hate the devs of any game. but i am frustrated that items sell for less when they are refined. i am frustrated that ALL ingots no matter how rare they are sell for 1s 10c. its just a small problem i have with the game /rant off
enjoying the game, got my lifetime sub (just in-time for Moria) and my Minstrel and guardian are flying along. completed book 3 on my guardian the other day and i am looking forward to book 4. |

I wish I could sympathize with you...but I can't. I guess I'm not much of a crafter. The thing that frustrated me the most was grinding up to GM Weapon-smith. Anyhow, I don't craft much and only use AH for selling extra mats that I find. Somedays they sell good, some days not. I guess I should really tray to crit something some day... |

Hmmm, I'm far from an expert player in this game. But I'm pretty sure crafting stuff can make you a profit. For instance, my main is a weapon crafter. He can turn 4 copper and 2 tin (which he can get from prospecting) and one light hide into a bronze great sword which sells for 3.5 silver But 4 copper = 1.6 silver (40 each), 2 tin = 80 copper, 1 light hide = 6 copper So basically I'm making a profit of 1 silver off of each Greatsword. Which maybe isn't a huge amount, but it's something
Then on my Elf Loremaster, I've been making dye. That's a little more expensive to produce, since you have to buy 3 tiems. But it sells for 5 silver and I've seen her cash total go up and up and up from just making the dye and selling it to the NPC. |

Wait till you get to master of on level then youll start making profit with the crits. As a prospector you can make loads of money. Explorer is the recommended profession for all 1rst chars, best way to make money. |
