when on earth is this man going to be fired? where are the 'good results'? and what has to say his boss? He is the President so he is responsible for any situation. They need to bring another person who is able to follow a new line that solves economic situation and give a good image to players. if your company is not working you can close or head a new direction. But what you cant do is keep same direction ; and the one who makes the global decisions is the president and not the developers. (As I said in other post Smed is the black hand behind NGE, the reason we cant get classics for and the one who lied saying they have not old code.) Well at least NGE made my wife happy.

If he ever finally gets fired someone needs to put a picture of him up on here with red text saying "TOUCHABLE" Just like the elevator scene in the movie. |

I would like to know what sweetheart deal teh Smedster received to remain as untouchable as he is now. I cannot fathom how he has not been held accountable for his bad decisions, mismanagement and all-out blunders. What exactly does teh Smedz have to do to be dismissed from his current position? Does $OE have to completely collapse first? Alas, we may never know.......

I made this prediction last year and I'll still stand by it today. I believe Smed will leave SoE/SCE just before or just after the release of the Agency. I believe this because he's been with SoE for several years and may start to be seen as career stagnant in the industry. Also, leaving near the release of the Agency does 2 things for him. If the Agency is wildly successful then he can take credit for it, likewise if it is unsuccessful then he's somewhat free of blame. He can easily claim that it was mismanaged after his leaving. Of course this is all just speculation but I wouldn't be a bit surprised. Although the one thing I'll say with certainty is that an annoucenment will claim that Smed left for "personal reasons", or something similar. I doubt SCE would publicly say he was fired. |

The problem is is that Smedley hasn't exactly proven himself to be successful as far as SOE is concerned. I honestly believe that SWG vet free trials and other come back for free for a month for there other games come about a couple weeks before his reports are due to his bosses. By havng the free trials they artificially pad their numbers so he can say see, we have so many thousand people all playing these games, we are still a market leader! I doubt that anyone would really touch him with a 10 foot pole if he did leave or was released from his position at SOE. He alienated the core group of players in EQ2 by dumbing down the game, he ran off 200k or so people from SWG, PotBS has never really left dry dock and Vanguard (though I have not loaded up that thing in months) launched as a big stinky rotten egg and most likely hasn't gotten terribly better. He made a horrific business decision in bailing out McQuaid and loaning him millions so that Sigil could buy their way out of the deal with Microsoft. He paid a pretty penny to warner bros to take over Matrix Online with no intention of making that game any better but only so that he could get the deal for DCO. He is now praying to any God or gods that he might believe in that The Agency and DCO are successful. If neither of those 2 games bring in the numbers that Smedley thinks they will he will most likely get canned and drop off everyone's radar, or join up with *crosses fingers that this doesn't happen* interplay which is trying to get stuff going to make Fallout Online. |

Your current players are your foundation for future success. |
Just thinking out loud here. Wasn't he the head of Verant, and didn't that essentially become SOE? I have an opinion, but I want to see whether or not it's an informed one :) |
