I play to have fun, not to win or be the best.

Here I will explain what makes me different from just about eveybody else on these forums in terms of why I don't dislike the game. This is for clarification for anyone that wonders why I still play the game:

 PvP

I don't like PvP. Simple as that. I don't like being killed by other players. I don't like them taking my stuff. I don't like the players that lure in noobs just to have some cruel fun. I don't care if it was zoned by level or whatever: I never stepped foot in th wilderness. At least, not until they got rid of it. Then I could go in and explore to my hearts content whithout worring about some high-level camper waiting to kill me and take my stuff.

I prefer Clan Wars to be more fun, although it's really spammy in the lobby area. I admit that Bounty Hunter sucks, but that's because of the mismatched levels. And the item loss. I like my items. I'm not going to let someone else have them whithout paying for them. I don't like Fist of Guthix either, also because of the mismatched levels. Duel arena's cool if you just want to fight one guy. You can choose if you want to wager anything and set your own rules, which is neat.

Trading Limits/Grand Exchange

I wasn't afected much with the trading update. Didn't trade much in the first place. Even now I hardly see a trade window, which is okay by me. If I need something, I'll go through the work of getting it myself, rather than asking others to trade something for it. It'd still be nice if someone just randomly came up to me and gave me a mil for free, but that probably wouldn't happe to me, with or without the limit. They should've made it with more round numbers (like 5) for it, rather than 3s. Getting off topic.

The Grand exchange is a good update in my eyes. A one-stop, everything-for-sale shop is just what some people need after they lose all their stuff in Bounty Hunter. The only bad side of this is that some players will come to rely on this to get all their stuff. "No use for smithing, I'll just buy my armor." "No need for fishing, I get my sushi on the GE." But at least you don't have to go running around, trying to find soeone to sell your stuff too.

Short version: I don't really care about the trading limits, but I love the GE.

Customer service

I have little to say about this topic. I don't have any "black marks", as you call them, and I don't know anybody who's been muted/banned for not breaking a rule. My opinion here means very little.

Community

I am not a social person. I do not have many friends on Runescape, and they're still playing it. I can't say if it's a good or bad community because I haven't played many MMORPGs to compare it with. I don't interact much with other people unless they talk to me first, and even then it isn't more than a few sentences. Again, not one to ask an opinion about.

Skills

I like the skills. A wide variety of skills with many different uses and aplications should be in more games than just this one. The wide area where you can actually practice and train the skills is good too. On your way to the barbarian village to craft and fire a bowl (crafting) that you'll use for the soup you're going to make (cooking) you cut down a tree (woodcutting) for logs to make a fire (firemaking) to cook the soup later. While your at the village, you mine some coal (mining) to sell at the GE. 5 skills used in a short trip from varrock to barbarian village. How many other games have something like THAT?

Final note

You can easily tell I'm a naive idiot to actually think these things about Runescape. That may be true, but I'll be the most persistent, annoying, naive idiot on these forums!!! Think what you will of my opinions, and I'll think what I will of yours, but hear this: I will always defend Runescape. Even if I stop playing it because I'm too busy, I'll still defend it. I'd list what would make me stop defending it, but that's for another post.

(I also put this in my blog, so if yo want to just leave a small comment than a whole post, go there)

I lost all my dignity a long time ago.

Let the games begin!

 PvP

I don't like PvP. Simple as that. I don't like being killed by other players. I don't like them taking my stuff. I don't like the players that lure in noobs just to have some cruel fun. See, my favorite part was the PVP, which is probably why you could simply get past the updates.  I loved the risk, the reward, and the losses.  Probably the greatest moments in RS I had were with my friends in the wilderness.

Bounty hunter was poorly, poorly done.  It's completely unfair, with PJers gone wild and the unfair match ups.  All of Jagex's PVP updates were attempts to fix the wilderness, but they were all poorly done.

Trading Limits/Grand Exchange

I wasn't afected much with the trading update. Didn't trade much in the first place. Even now I hardly see a trade window, which is okay by me. If I need something, I'll go through the work of getting it myself, rather than asking others to trade something for it. You see, the wilderness and trading were both key, as they went together perfectly.  Friend needs an inventory of lobsters?  Here ya go.  Out of rune arrows?  Here, have a hundred.

Hehe, I remember when I PKed a dragon bow.  I gave all of my close friends 100K (that was a lot to us poor, hardcore PKers), and we all used it to do more PKing.  Lol, even though all of that money was gone quickly, it was still great.

Not only that, but it took away the ability to help a lower level, or to get a bargain.

The GE would have been a great update if it weren't for the trade restrictions.  If players could actually make their own prices, instead of Jagex making them for us...

Short version: I don't really care about the trading limits, but I love the GE.

Yeah, it does.  It's undeniable Jagex has poor custamor service..

It's simple, the community is horrible full of immature kids and talking profanity.

Skills

I like the skills. A wide variety of skills with many different uses and aplications should be in more games than just this one. Wurm Online handles skills much better.

I like the idea of different skills, but they are all so repetitive and boring.

Sorry fot the small arguements, I have a wedding to go to!  I'll argue more when I return :)

My fingers hurt from video games :(

I still don't understand the fandom this shitty little java game gets. Yes, I played it, oh, 7 years ago? when I was 13. I grew out of it, moved onto better games and that was that.

I don't think a lot of runescape players realize that many of the "varried" skills are, in fact, composed of the same basic actions. Mining? Click a rock. Woodcutting? Click a tree. Firemaking? Click a log and then also click a tinderbox! Fishing? Click water.

Combat? Click mob. Slayer? Click mob. I think you get the idea here.

Runescape is nothing but an ego driven game for children in which is based off of the large importance of your skills number. Look at runescape fansites, they are nothing but blogs on how this kid can click a tree 10,000 times for level xx woodcutting or how this kid is soo motivated to complete another remidal task. Perhaps it would be wise to tell these kids they can do the same thing AND get paid for it?

Even better is there are very few players who play the game in which they actually pay attention to what is going on. Click (insert generic object here) and window over to browse some forums or watch a movie or youtube.

The player base of runescape is composed of children who stumbled upon the game while looking for something fun to play during class on miniclips, or they are kids who don't have access to a credit card / parent's won't let them use theirs. It's an easy to access game and that is where the positives stop.

Certainly I could go on, but I feel that my rambling is already long enough for such a small java game.

Just because it's Java doesn't mean anything.  I agree about your takes on the skill system, but because a game is Java doesn't mean anything.

I hear people complaining and complaining about a skill based game.  A game where you make your own path, not forced to grind after grind.  While RuneScape is a grind, it is skill based.

Look at Wurm Online, people like you just overlook games that are Java (closeminded?).  It's the perfect game for so many people who are sick of the grind and everything, but because it's Java it is overlooked.

Also, RS has 1million subs.  That means it isn't small.

okay, I have to go top a wedding.  buh bye.

Java can only go so far.

And skill based, people really throw this term around too loose these days.

edit: I'm not saying java is horrible, for example N+ is a wonderfully crafted game. However Jagex just doesn't really understand much and the java platform is not the best for an MMORPG.

I am not going to flame you, I believe that everyone is entitled to their opinions as to why they like a game and dislike it.

PVP-

It's okay that you  you don't like to pvp , and from what you have said you don't do too well with it. That's okay PVP isn't for everyone. Some people love it, some people don't. The point being is exactly that. I am sure you have friends that liked the PVP part, and some who don't. I want a game I can play with my friends, and that means a game that all of my friends can enjoy and have fun playing.  They already had in this game :
