Can you imagine what I would do if I could do all I can?

Back in the old days, the concept of a guild was seen in movies and old pen and paper games. The guilds are often called differently depending on the genre and game. for example, in any competitve FPS, a guild is refered as a Clan. Here, we call it a guild.

Throughout the years, we've seen many different types making an apparence. If you do a bit of research, you'll quickly notice many different types of guilds.

- PVP exclusive guild
- RAID oriented guild
- Crafter guild
- RP guild
- Mixed
- Open ended
- Competition Clans (Mostly seen on FPS)

I'm sure, I'm missing a few here...

I've been in the same clan since early 1999. What started as a hardcore competition clan in Quake 3, turned into a powerhouse clan in Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Eventually, we ended up as a powerfull Star Wars Galaxy guild. WOW sorta destroyed us but the core remained and went back into FPS gaming until something else comes out. Number wise, we started as 10 and went as high as 300+ in various games. Today, we're back to 20 or so. Most of the guys and girls now have kids, a beer belly and a house with a dog. We've partied all over the world, some met in England, others in Montreal and the list goes on. Most of these people are what I could describe as family. One of the most important thing we enforce between each other is a reminder that we cannot always be online and must take care of our real life once in a while. Hard to believe heh?

As a guild, we're pretty mixed and our structure is simple, yet efficient. We're very PVP oriented but we do enjoy RP. Are most powerfull tool is our teamwork and coordination.

For me, being part of this group of people did alot in my life. While yes, I would probably have dated that ultra hot asian chick if I didn't refused her date for my Quake 3 match. (Come on, I was 19!!!) ...

So my question is...

what is your experience as a guild member. Are you part of a very long term guild? Was your experience as good as mine or did you find yourself stuck in a greed guild where loot is all that matters? (reason we hated WOW)

What type of guild do you like?

What type of guild do you avoid?

Share one good experience.
